Changes v GWS

Just on Aarts who did he go out for at the back end of last year? Was it Edwards or Prestia, who then allowed Bolton more time up forward?

Aarts is on borrowed time. He will stay in until Prestia and Edwards are back or when MRJ is fit to play.
Aarts played in the qualifying final, then was dropped along with Chol for Lynch and Broad.

He might well stay in for now, but not if I were choosing.

There were quite a few who were pantsed to night.
Astbury, Castagna, Houli, Riewoldt, Ross and Lynch were probably at the top of that list.
Dimma also, and his performance further complicated by his decision to go in against a powerful big man forward line, without a second tall to help out Nank.

Astbury, Houli Riewoldt and Lynch will not be dropped, but Castagna’s form has been poor for a couple of weeks and maybe it is time for him to take a break.
I’d leave out Castagna, Mansell, Ross and the injured Edwards.

In Coleman-Jones, Grimes, Rioli M and Stacky.

B Astbury Balta Grimes
HB Broad Vlastuin Short
C McIntosh Martin Baker
HF Collier-Dawkins Riewoldt Rioli D
F Coleman-Jones Lynch Aarts
R Nankervis Graham Bolton
I/C Houli, Pickett, Rioli M and Stack.
Sub Ross.
Dimma has to own that doing my head in Pickett in the ruck and we got a kid ready to go.

In Grimes, Naish,
Out Edwards (inj), Castagna,

Don't think CCJ will come in as the Giants have no rucks but if he does Mansell may go out.
Ross was pretty good in the first half then had a horror 2nd half
Perfect game to expose them and bring him in then.

We don't have a lot of AFL-ready bodies, so Ross and George stay. George has credits and we need his two-way run.

Out: Edwards, Mansell (inj.), Aarts, Naish
In: Grimes, CJ, Hugo
Sub: Aarts.

*You can't drop Aarts, he kicked three goals!*

Nyair, that's all he did. George and Danny have to do a lot more running because this guy can't. A non-running small, even if he is smart, tough and hard-working enough to get on the end of a few? Nyup.
A realistic post.

But Aarts will retain his spot, as will George and Dan... we need mature bodies on deck even if they are in stinking form. Mansell and Edwards out for Grimes and Hugo I reckon.

I agree it's a choice between CJ and Aarts. I get why Dimma has chosen Aarts thus far (protect the mid transition). But Geelong launched 8 goals starting from our F50. That's a small forward's fault.

I vote we take some marks inside 50. Makes it harder for them to run it out.

Broad almost single handily cost us the game v Geelol. 2 dropped marks, 1 poor kick and multiple failures to effectively spoil or halve the contest in the 3rd qtr gave up goals and the game was then over. Also Cameron and Rohan kicked goals for fun whilst Broad playing on them.

On that basis might as well drop Jack and Tom too as they were pretty crap on Friday too. How about Dusty? Should we drop him too, didn't lift the midfield with him.

Has plenty of credit in the bank, to dismiss his shocker

Well two more changes likely to the team this week and our already weak midfield is even weaker with Shai out for a while. Will be interesting if Rioli will play this week with stitches under they eye or if he is suspended for this nightclub incident. After all CCJ and Stack got suspended so it will be interesting to see what the club does this time

Agreed. How about we be optimistic and try to outscore the other mob, rather than be pessimistic and assume we'll lose control of the pill in our forward half. The 6-6-6 rule was tailor made for an effective centre clearance plus delivery to a talented forward setup. This is not rocket science.
