Changes v GWS

Martin and Bolton will need to spend serious time in the middle. I’d put Pickett in the first rotation also.

Finlayson missing should help things.
I would love to see a true second ruck in. We just seem better when we had that set-up.
Grimes back to allow the backline to play in their best positions will be nice.

Top four is already out of the question.

No, it isnt CT, 14 games remaining. one game off 4th now. The majority of the top 4 have played some lower-ranked teams and we will play them more now moving forward than playing more of the top 6 again. These top 4-6 teams still need to play each other, it can turn quickly.

From our last 14 games, going by current top 8 (we play lions X2, eagles once and Cats again), the other 10 games are against teams in the bottom half of the 8
We have been here before but it is getting harder. I still have faith that we can make the top 4

Injuries are taking their toll especially to our midfielders and we need to tidy up on our forward 50 entries.

Mathematically, true.

But the writing is on the wall.

We're not the side we've been in previous years. People keep pointing to our wins and losses early in our premiership seasons. But they don't tell the story.

We are currently are good side, that has been great. We can be unbeatable on our day. But we'll have fewer of those this year.

Aside from one or two games in our dynasty (e.g. saints 2017) even when we've lost, we've looked hard to beat. This year we've been easy beats three out of eight weeks.

We'll lose a couple to the Essendons and Freo's of the world this year.

We're not making top four.

But we can still win it all. Because we can still get it right for the four weeks that matter.

With Cotchin, Edwards, Prestia and Lambert out, Dusty and Bolton will need to spend most of their time in the middle. therefore need another option up front - CCJ to also second ruck.

The slow cats transitioned way too easily - we need to tighten up our structures to close the outlets - Marlion back on the wing., Ross in the middle.

Grimes will be back for Mansell, and looks like Ralphsmith might get a game. George has been real poor and it's only fair he has a stint - RS to replace him as the roaming high forward.

In Grimes, CCJ, Ralphsmith
Out Edwards, Castagna, Mansell

B............Balta.................Astbury..................Grimes
HB.........Short...................Vlastuin..................Houli
C............KMac...................Dusty.....................Pickett
HF..........Ralphsmith........Lynch.....................Baker
FF.............Aarts....................Jack......................CCJ
R................Nank...................Graham................Bolton
IC............Broad........RCD...........Ross...............Rioli

Reckon Marvel suits us better than the G at the moment - Tigers by 37.

Agree, mostly. But if we can get our mids all back on the park and healthy we could still make top four. Need to snag a few more wins before the bye and be at around 60% winning ratio to make top four. And we could still win it from 5th say.

Given our age profile now we'll definitely need a mini-rebuild next year - not a major one, but with Houli, Cotch, maybe Jack retiring there will need to be a development period.

Like I keep saying, the next month will be tough without Shedda, Cotch, Lambo and Prestia out of the midfield. You saw what a mature, capable midfield did to us on Friday night.

I'm treating this year as a rebuild.

Just a rebuild in which we might win a premiership.

It will be on the back of Bolton, Baker, Graham, Ross, RCD, MJR, Ralphsmith, Cumberland, CCJ and Stack who all become regular members of the team at times as the year progresses. I'd also love to see Balta go forward (he's getting smashed at the moment) and Miller or Bigoa come in.

Then we take 3 KP backmen, and 3 KP forwards in the draft, get Soldo back and go for back to back dynasties.

Naish, Ross, Castagna, Broad and Mansell all need to be dropped.

Grimes, CCJ, Ralphsmith, Stack and DES will come in.

Broad? Probably been in our top 3-5 players this year. Have you been taking the crazy pills again?

Also DES? Yes that will help with our lack of appetite at the contest!

Seems Dimma doesn’t want him As we’re crying out for another ruck/forward to give Nank a break and provide a marking option in our forward line but CCJ still can’t get a game
Yep. With the greatest respect to the match committee, I think they are looking at this the wrong way.

the MC needs to stop looking for a way to fit CCJ into the team I.e who to drop for him. They should try with a starting point if let’s just lock CCJ into the starting lineup and then work out how to shuffle things around to make it work.

We don't have a lot of AFL-ready bodies, so Ross and George stay. George has credits and we need his two-way run.

Out: Edwards, Mansell (inj.), Aarts, Naish
In: Grimes, CJ, Hugo
Sub: Aarts.

*You can't drop Aarts, he kicked three goals!*

Nyair, that's all he did. George and Danny have to do a lot more running because this guy can't. A non-running small, even if he is smart, tough and hard-working enough to get on the end of a few? Nyup.

With Grimes back & Vlas better for the run , Baker goes back where he can run forward.
Forwards need to be pro active .
I would play Mrj at Marvel this week, let's see what he can do

Just on Aarts who did he go out for at the back end of last year? Was it Edwards or Prestia, who then allowed Bolton more time up forward?

Aarts is on borrowed time. He will stay in until Prestia and Edwards are back or when MRJ is fit to play.

Broad? lol
Broad almost single handily cost us the game v Geelol. 2 dropped marks, 1 poor kick and multiple failures to effectively spoil or halve the contest in the 3rd qtr gave up goals and the game was then over. Also Cameron and Rohan kicked goals for fun whilst Broad playing on them.

He has had one bad game. You dont drop players for that.
