Changes v Cats

In:
Lambert if fully fit (IMO one of our 6 most most important players)
Chol (risky I know but there is some genuine x factor with him playing on the forward line and in the ruck and maybe he couldn't do any worse than Lynch has been doing). Much more athletic than Lynch at present.
Naish (has really improved his game this year and deserves a go IMO)

Out:
Bolton (just too unreliable at this stage)
Higgins (maybe a bit harsh to drop him but I would like to see more energy/spark from him)
Lynch (I know Hardwick won't ever consider dropping him but I getting really tired of Hardwick constantly making excuses for Lynch's very ordinary contributions)

Did Hardwick think Nakas was going to play for 7 years without missing a game?
Shocking list management.
They put everything in getting Lynch and lost sight of our deficiencies elsewhere
Ruckman
Tall defender
Another midfielder

Yeah, Nakas gaves us the premiership. List management is not always going to be tops, especially when seeking a premiership. Short term insights required. Then longterm.

Cholly rucked well in the magoos last week, played a bloody good all round game as well. Musta been p!ssed at not getting a look at seniors after Soldo got suspended n Cujo got in ahead of him.

Magoos being streamed again today, will be looking for Cholly n a couple of others to stand up n throw their names into the ring for the Moggies game, we had a heap of stragglers last night n a refresh of a few players wouldn't hurt.

Can we forget about the Chol idea now? Half time in VFL and Chol's had 4 disposals - 2 in the last 2 minutes after North ruck went off tending an injury. 6 hitouts, last 3 he's won straight to opposition. Just walking around disinterested. It's a different story when you're up against a ruckman that has some experience unlike Essendon last week. Chol hasn't deserved a spot this year, he's been very average in the last few weeks overall.

Chol has been spectating again. It's the story of his career. Last week was a mirage.

CuJo not really any better to be fair.

He was best on last week?

Yes I had him as best but that's just one game and, as mentioned, it was against a VFL first gamer and another who doesn't normally ruck. One good game doesn't get you a berth, just ask Naish.

Naish deserves a game over Menadue. Seen enough of Menadue, not up to it. Good solid VFL player. Naish another 25+ disposal game and 3 goals (should have been 4).

I almost hope Naish gets a game to deliver a reality check to some fans. He is way too outside, lacks any kind of defensive intensity. Bludges without the ball. Pushed off it too easily. Menadue was better than him today and was unlucky to be dropped in the first place.

No different to Menadue. Menadue wasn't better than him today. Didn't get 3 goals for starters. Didn't see him do any hard stuff either. He's been tried. Dropped 11 times now. Why bring him in again? Let's see what Naish has to offer, let's reward performance. Experience and time will tell whether he has it or not, not one game. Yes I want a reality check. I think players need to be tried to find out if they can make it or not. Sometimes you get surprised. Sometimes your hunch rings true.

No. If he gets a game of course I will be hoping he does as well as possible. But he's not ready.

He is different to Menadue. He's nowhere near as quick, for starters. He plays 30 metres wide of the play. Mr Fat Side. He jogs on defense. He's physically insignificant. Defensively invisible.

Menadue played a better game at AFL level three weeks ago than Naish has ever played at VFL level. Rewarding performance would be picking Menadue. Talk of how many times he's been dropped is irrelevant. He's next in line. He was stiff to be dropped in the first place. He went back and performed.

Chol had a chance today to put his hand up for selection and failed

Chol will never be an AFL player. Along side Weller an absolute waste of a pick that could go to someone that has some form of desire to play and contest. Chol plays like he is on the basketball court most of the time.

Only bloke that deserved a game on VFL form today was Menadue.

Displayed AFL traits all days. Hit targets, ran and carried well, clean hands.

Towner will always compete well at AFL level.

They should send Rioli up North till after the bye to get his body and mind fresh for the run home.

Chol is unfortunately a bust. CCJ is not ready physically but I would bring him in for Soldo because his instincts and skills are top notch for a big man.

BTW Eggy Smith tracking well, Made a few blues but has a nice bag of tricks.

Lambert CCJ Menadue in Soldo Butler Higgins out

Menadue has played one good game, that's it. 11 times dropped, it's not irrelevant, it's core to the fact that he doesn't quite perform at AFL level. How many more chances does he need? Move em on, try the new. If Naish can't perform with the same opportunities then out he goes too. I don't agree that Naish has no defensive side. He has been working hard on that and has improved this year. Menadue has no defensive side either. How can you argue that as an advantage? Naish can kick goals, Menadue can't. 11 goals in 39 games. 1 in his last 10 games over two years. Time to move him on. 22yo and 5th year on the list. Out of contract. It's over for Menadue. We can't possibly keep him.

Changes? It is at the G.Could be wet.Our mids will need to be 100 per cent on cue.Our FWD line needs a revamp. Caddy FF, Lynch on a HFF wide(if they triple team him there surely the loose players will do something useful).Towner in a pocket because he can mark and play tough.George at CHF for speed and let him fly for marks as well.Rest of the forwards should be also speedy type players.Playing this Geelong team we need to think Hafey style-kick it long and score on most of our inside 50s. Our defence will struggle to hold their forwards.

Prepare to be disappointed.

Glad someone else can see it, lamby.

Agree on Eggs, has a few brain farts but a lovely kick and mark.

Agree, for 2 main reasons.

(1) In Freo's win, Grundy killed Lobb in the ruck but the Freo midfield won. Proves that HO mean nothing most times, it's those who rove.

(2) If we succeeded with Grigg, why not put a taller presence in the ruck with CCJ anyway?

I get your criticism of Naish but the same goes for Eggs. Plays very wide and cost us goals from panicked turnovers.
