Thanks for your contribution George , good luck in retirement...

You can say a lot of things about him but one thing you can never say is "boring"..

Just saw his speech. His blonde wife in tears. Said we're the best supporters in the league and "thanks for cheering all of my points over the years" :mhihi (c'mon George you kicked goals!!) He said thanks to a Sam McLeod (Dr Samantha McLeod - psychologist?) about mental health which showed he wasn't well last season and retiring now was probably the best decision for him. Gave a big thanks to Dimma, and even great to see Butler and Astbury there. Amazing how players get more emotional when their speech gets to the thanking the teammates part. Loved Dimma's thank you speech at the end "3 time premiership player, always a Richmond man"

3 time premiership player. He had some faults but you don’t get to be one of those without doing plenty right.

All the best & thanks for the memories.

Will always remember the goal against Freo when he ran around the umpire. It was the sort of thing Richo might have done.

Ha also kicked a critical goal in two Grand Finals and was only an errant out on the full short of another six point Grand Final. Lol!

Three flags, more than a hundred games, more than a hundred goals at a smidge under a goal a game average. Plenty of wonderful players have achieved less.

Loved that speech, genuine and heartfelt .... the special connection people have within team sport is so hard to let go of I reckon.
Over the years George has done me head in on occasion, but all that's been cancelled out by his obvious love of the club and his teammates.
Think there'd be plenty of blokes in the competition who'd coast along to the end of their contract and never do what he's done.
Good onya Jason and good luck in whatever life brings you. Well done!

Wishing you all the best in your retirement George. I loved the gut running and fwd line pressure you brought to our 3time premiership team. You have left an indelible mark on the RFC and will be remembered fondly. You sir, are a" Richmond Man"

Interesting observation by Dimma at the end of George's speech about running up and down the 'fat' side and being committed to it.

Dimma clearly rated George for what he brought to the team, which I think very few of us on the outside can understand what that really was. Played 92 out of a possible 95 from 2017 to 2020 speaks volumes to the key role the coaches and his team-mates saw him play out there, and the role he played in us winning those three flags.

I have always had my doubts about him, I lived in fear of him costing us a really big game with a George brain-fade, but now that he has gone, I can only feel that he brought way more to the club than a brain-fade or two would ever cost us.

Good luck George my favourite Tiger .Your knocker well wonder who they will target now.

By the way, can I just add, that Butler's bruised face is only due to another Steven May hit.....just saying.

Absolutely, Streaker. Who better personified the ethos of embracing your imperfections, playing to your strengths and devoting yourself to your role?

100% Richmond Man.

Geez, he could be frustrating.

But I will always remember that goal in the 2019 PF, we were right behind it and I said to my daughter that we really needed the goal, and that is when Castagna kicked them. He didn't always, but he did that night. Amazing in the GF that year, but we didn't need any more goals, so he kept missing.

Castagna was certainly one of a kind, endless running, random disposals, but a real contributor to 3 flags.

Will always be remembered fondly.

George always will be part of the RFC legend with his successful frantic game style that kept us on edge every game. My favourite play by George was in the 2017 GF when he kicked his goal as it was at that point I just knew our premiership drought was over.
Thanks for everything George

Luckiest footballer? Nah one of the most committed.
Obviously worked like a navvy to have extreme fitness and strength pound for pound.
Worked himself to every contest he could.

In games was committed and dependable to Dimma's team rules. Trusted the coach and so was trusted as he 100% commtted to the team.
Played at 100% effort. Crashed packs as the smallest CHF. Tackled with fervour. Brave like a bobsledder.
Committed like a fever.
The sort of teammate every player loves.

Not lucky.
The hardest working, fully committed footballer. Bravo.
