I for one am not really interested in Cars, though I have found lately that there are some good-lookin Cars on the road. Like my Avatar, its a 59 Chevy Impala done up (by me) to look like a richmond car, it is easily my favourit car.

Here is a list of my top 5 cars:

59 Chevy

Nissan 350Z

Delorian

Lamboghini

Any Corvette!

Great cars are those, in this thread i would like to discuss others opinions on cars such as these.

they are nice cars you like haynes.

i too love cars and work in the car industry, feel free to ask any questions you like.

which lamborghini do you like?

LT77 I have a question for you. Why can't Australian car manufacturers make decent brakes? I'm now on my 3rd Australian car in a row (2 commodores and a falcon) and I've just about given up. My current vehicle has been back to the dealer 3 times and they still cannot address the issue. Spongy pedal, poor feel, noisy, squeeky brakes as well as excessive vibration. It drives me nuts.

tigeress - a bmw sounds great! I'm leaning that way when the current lease expires.

i don't really know the answer to that question. the only thing i can think of is that the aussie manufacturers price their vehicles very competitively and consequently standard braking components are fitted. they are not of great quality and after soon fade not long after heating up. i'm sure they could follow the footsteps of bmw and porsche and fit cross drilled, slotted ceramic discs but it would price these vehicles out of the budgets of their no1 customer, the fleets. rental car companies, government etc. for the general public the brakes fitted provide adequate braking for conservative day to day driving.

if buying a rwd aussie car option up the Premium brakes package, holden/hsv have the ap racing which never fade and always bite, wet or dry. ford also have a premium brakes option on their falcon range. alternatively try any one of the numerous tuning houses that can supply and fit brembos etc. not cheap though. for a cheaper aussie option try DBA

may i suggest you look at the awesome new Subaru Liberty range before parting with over 50 large for a bmw

no problem haynes. i look forward to discussing everything about cars with you on your fantastic thread.

to me a motor vehicle is more than just transport, its an extension of your body, mind and spirit. it represents who you are. they are the most beautiful things in the world. so much more than wheels, metal, plastic etc. driving and controlling these machines is the most divine exercise in the world. pure indulgence, feeling every emotion. the smell of the petrol vapour, the sound of the motor revving free, the feel of every component in the car working with your every movement and responding to every ripple and bump in the road, the sight of the horizon dissapearing with every burst of the accelerator. pure bliss

i like your taste in cars. the diablo is one of the most beautiful vehicles of its time. perfect balance of spirit, performance, style, individuality and it has what makes a motor car a classic. it transcends generations. pure art. a masterpiece

i can think of a couple of other cars like this. mercedes benz 300sl gullwing, any porsche 911, ferarri 280 GTO and the corvette stingray convertible

can you think of any others

Yes, yes I can and here they are:

Alfa Spider

Hot Rods

The most fun I ever had driving was in a Suzuki Cappuccino (kind of Italian! ;)) - an infinitely gorgeous little turbo-charged roadster where you sit about an inch from the ground. Sure, following a Hyundai is like following a truck, but for sheer excitement I've never experienced better (well, in the motoring sense. :)

It's a shame they stopped making them in 1997, criminal that they were never offically imported, a tragedy that most of those that did land here have been throttled within an inch of their lives and a travesty that I cannae afford one anyway! :(

The closest thing is a Daihatsu Copen - and they're a: fugly and b: too little for me to fit in.

i remember them too, they looked kinda cool and had that quirky 90's japanese styling. have never driven one and onlyseen them from the outside.very similar to a honda beat, ever seen one of them?

I thought the styling combined to make a nice, timeless '90s meets '60s thing - they still look shexy.

I've seen the Beat, but they just didn' have the style - to me they looked very dated when they came out.

What can I say, i may be big but I like little cars. Guess I'll have to stick with my Echo. :)

that central digital dash on the echo was way cool back in 99 when they came out but look terribly dated now

Still, it works - only once or twice in almost three years has the sun hit it in such a way as to render it illegible. Mind you, the window tint probably helps. :)
