Campbell Brown-Daniel Jackson clash threads [Merged]

I actually don't have a problem with any of this. Brown shirtfronted Jackson in a time-honoured manner, it was good, hard footy. If anything, it was slightly high contact and a free was warranted and should have been paid. The umpire is the one who should be having to explain why the free wasn't given.

Jackson stood up fro himself and didn't take a backward step, which is great. A suspension here and there is meaningless anyway. He played with passion and courage on Sunday, which is what we want.

FOr some reason though, no-one seems concerned that Jackson was in the process of being escorted from the field with help from a trainer after a heavy knock and Brown turned his back on the play, ran over to him and starting gobbing off in his face, getting close enough to wear head-to-head contact. This seems a strange act to me, especially after Brown's admission on radio that he thought he "was having a bit of fun."

If Jackson was coming off the field on a stretcher, would he have done the same thing? Surely injured players have the right to leave the field without idiots buzzing around them questioning their courage?

Their defence last night was a little bit ill-advised. They should have gone down the path of asking why another player had been allowed to invade the space of an injured player who was being helped from the field. Surely, having some dope running alongside an injured player calling him names and suggesting that he was on the ground for too long is hardly the sort of image that the sensitive AFL is trying to promote.

would've got 1 week, but he had 80 points carried over and then didn't accept the MRP offer = 3 weeks.

Correct TOT -the politically coorrect AFL should have jumped all over this

Lucky he arrived to the tribunal on time. Might have got 4 weeks. Not having a tie on, 5 weeks.

"Richmond doctor Greg Hickey told the tribunal that Jackson had a history of violent tendencies .."

I guess they thought this excuse had already worked wonders for Campbell !!

I found it hard to work that defence out.
Would have thought it was better to say "he was concussed and in the hands of trainers being escorted off the ground for medical attention and brown followed him and instigated any confrontation. Jackson was in a dazed state and was unsure of his surroundings " etc etc.

Did he come back on after the incident because I am pretty sure that if you use the concussed defence the player couldn't have come back onto the field.

Jacko should have done it properly then, would have still got 3 weeks.

Yeah imagine the pretend hardman, Campbell Brown, telling the story to his mates in the pub years later. About the time when he was really tough and stood over and taunted a player he had supposedly flattened, only for the guy to get up and spread his nose across his face :hihi

enjoyed Luke McGuane's headbutt on Buddy's teeth 1/2 way through the last quarter :cutelaugh

After about 4 minutes :rofl

Love to see the punters reaction if Brown wore yellow and black and did that to a Hawk ;D

the bump I would like. the chasing off the field i would think was a bit ordinary.
IF the bump hit the head i would also expect weeks.

Watched the Hawks game on yesterday and watched Brown with interest. Again - he never missed a chance to barrel into the bloke with his head over the ball and in no position to defend himself.

But (and if you stumble across the replay this week, check out a ripping example 7:04 remaining in the first qu) he backs away when it's his turn to place himself in the line of fire.

Imho, I've never seen a bloke more ready to move on from the Hawks to GC. His play is either just gutless or it smacks of self-preservation. I reckon he's the most pretend hard man in the game.
