Callum Coleman-Judas - extricate yourself to Nth Ballarat, you git

Nice to have a big bloke leading at the ball. With that size, he’s hard to stop at full tilt. Surpassingly good at leading to space and getting separation.

Impressive start. Didn’t show much in the ruck. Strange how Chol showed more in the ruck and CCJ showed more out of the square. Long way to go before judgement but good start. Regardless trade value went up, significantly.

Good enough to stay in you think?

If he stays when Lynch comes back it gives us so many options. It will mean Lynch is less crowded and can move around more, it means Reiwoldt can roam up and down the ground and I reckon better suited to the way the game is being played. Lynch and Reiwoldt have been crowded and space has been difficult in our forward line. With Reiwoldt, Lynch and CCJ all there we can be far more potent. Possibly even have Chol running around if he plays well and suddenly we are looking more dangerous.

DS
It's a small sample size but I loved what I saw. Good shot at goal and to be honest having Lynch further up the ground will stretch any teams defence.

If rival clubs are still knocking on the door the asking price just went up.

A lot.

This. I am glad he did well today, but for mine he has looked pedestrian at VFL level this year. Not real mobile, but can clunk it and makes the most of opportunities by kicking well for goal

Has now shown what he can do at AFL level, now needs to maintain that work rate and effort and keep his spot in the side.

It's not CCJ v Lynch. It's both. CCJ adds an additional dimension. Jack has 1 or 2 years left..we need CCJ.

When Lynch is back, CCJ stays and Jack becomes third tall. No team in the comp can contend with that 3 headed monster

Not saying he is a better player now but Lynch is 28 with significant knee degradation.

He has 4 more big money years to go and will battle to hold together for them I think.

In two years CCJ will be 23 and could well be coming into a period of 3 or 4 years where he is potentially the best key forward in the game. If we are winning flags in 3 years time it will be because of him, not Lynch I reckon.
I get what you’re saying, but a fit Lynch will win finals. Given he’s on a fairly decent contract, any trade request would have to come from him.
Otherwise to shaft him out reeks of being disloyal, insincere and lacking integrity of honouring contracts. You know, like Collingwood. That sends a terrible message to any player.
CJ will get his opportunity regardless.

At 1/4 time i thought we had ruined any trade value by playing him at AFL level, rather than just dominating in the VFL for the year.
he improved a lot after that, but i think we need to be a little cautious in calling him the next big thing. he is going to face bigger challenges than Nick Murray, a kid playing his 4th game after being added to the Crows rookie list 2 months ago.

Nice kick for a big bloke; ball was coming nicely off his boot.

Doesn't look like we’ll be seeing too many crazy shanks or misses from 20 out.

The lad started poorly but worked into it really well. Can clearly be a player. But the real story of today for mine is what happens when you have multiple tall threats and they spread properly. As hard as Jack worked, his last quarter only happens when the oppo is worried about more than one key forward.
I’m hoping this is the learning. 3 tall forwards can work and 2 rucks or 1 ruck and tall genuine hybrid is a must.

Played well today but he’s in his 4th year in the system, not a first year rookie. Expectations are and should be higher for someone with for years of development under their belt.

The real challenge begins now because opposition clubs will take notice of today’s performance and start putting work in to him.

Talk of him replacing Lynch on the back of a single good game are absolutely absurd.

But first they'll have to put work into Jack and Tom. He's third (or even fourth behind Dusty).

He's not replacing Tom long-term, he'll be one of our marking targets when the end comes for Jack.
