Bye Bye Jack Higgins!

Kudos to Johnny Oates for helping Iva Davies write songs for Icehouse's best album Man of Colours. Huge diff to their previous albums as far as popularity goes.
Still sucked though. Icehouse were awful, not in the same league as Higgins and Oates.

Anyway back to Higgo........ ;D

They recently toured as double bill with Tears for Fears in the States.

Brilliant show.

Also they just released a new track with the lead singer of Train.

Quite a good track.

Early Icehouse were very good, Great Southern Land is the closest thing to a national anthem as you can get. Wasn't a fan of Electric Blue & the other commercial stuff. I will give Iva Davies some credit in producing one of the most appalling mullets in history, I'm sure it was host to a full blown ecosystem.

A little bit more focus will be on Higlet this week and a bit of pressure to nail a goal or 2 as his form has forced the omission of a physical Premiership Player in Townsend.

Surely must have been a fake given it was that long...

My favourite band as a kid along with INXS. INXS did a U2 worldwide, and Icehouse just remained a simple Aussie-bound band. That's where Oates helped as Man of Colours was more popular than the other 4 albums they had which were not too strong. Problem is Iva changed the band and his tune too many times. Realistically, a one man band all the time.

Good to see Higgo keep his spot. 4 snags please

Yep, good to see the snag in a for another big game.

Great Southern Land is tedious to me. 30 seconds repeated 10 times. If you want an anthem, try Sounds of Then, Khe Sanh, any number of Midnight Oil songs. I much prefer Aussie Crawl's or Skyhooks' suburban anthems as well.

Anyway, here's to a few more Turbo snags.

Anthem? "Straya", the parody/remix of Outkast's 'Hey Ya' for me.

Wish i had kept Higlet in my Dream Team ..................................... now I'm stuck with Garlett from Carlton :p :p

The indigenous sounds in the background are the best parts of the song.

I found Icehouse incredibly bland musically. So many great Aussie bands of the era: Oils, INXS, Aussie Crawl, Mondo Rock, Chisels, The Church, The Triffids... even disposable pop sounds like the Eurogliders or Wa wa Nee were preferable.

I almost choked on my cornflakes, Wa Wa Nee? In the context of Australian New Wave artists Icehouse held up pretty well, Hey Little Girl another great track. One of the most underrated groups of the era was The Machinations, really edgy & funky for the times. Models were also top shelf.

Too many Aussie bands to mention. An era long gone......

Big on Love was underrated IMO. Funny video.

Bully, I am with you on The Machinations and Models, but Icehouse were as bland as cornflakes. Wa Wa Nee were disposable pop, but at least you could dance to it.

Anyhoo, your boy Turbo is due to kick 4 this week.

Man of Colours and Dont believe anymore were probably two of Ice Houses best songs, emotive strong lyrically with meoldy and well aranged

Heres hoping for another impacting game from the Higlet this week.

He's not under the radar now though sadly, the opposition will be scrutinisiing him more than young Graham and hes got 3 goals in a GF with a premiership medallion

Just getting back to Jack Higgins (if you don't mind) I once witnessed a twenty-minute version of Sara Smile at some vineyard. Very N'Orlins. Funky. The lads can play.

Personally for this game i think i would rather of had Townsend in the team than Higgins

Thinking we are going to miss his hardness at the contest

Heard "run to paradise" by the choirboys on radio yesterday.
Still a damn good song.
