Brandon Ellis

Many posters are piling in on Ellis and yes he had an average game but our All Australian in Houli did no better and not a peep out of these same posters on his poor performance,.

And it’s amazing some posters use any chance they get to pot Houli.
So many players had very low possession counts last night but once again Houli gets brought up. How about we mention Vlastuin’s game?

Hardly amazing. It's the same mob over and over. They've been doing since he arrived. It's irrational.

But now that's he's made AA this year the less silly ones have gone quiet.

Just go to the start of the game, the ball hasn’t even been bounced and Robinson is bumping him aggressively and all he does he just steps away.
He had his Crosby’s on. Just kept on going to ground.
For a bloke that plays on the wing, he is hardly involved in scoring.
The sooner he leaves the better.

Because Houli is an All-Australian who consistently performs at the highest level. He had a bad game but so what, it's not news worthy, it happens.

No better? Houli was average to poor, Ellis was plain terrible. You may not be able to see the difference, but it was clear to me.

At the ground, I thought Bachar played OK. Bellis seemed to have an inverse Midas touch.

But he did set up Dustys throw to Jack

Talk this morning that Ellis had toured Carlton in Feb and was pretty much over the line and SOS said NO.

SEN Sam Edmund?

Toured in February? Then SOS said “no”. Doesn’t make sense.

Just a theoretical

What if the Club decided to play Ellis in the VFL this weekend - alongside challengers for the wing such as KMac?
Form in that game would be used to decide who played in the PF.

Not sure Ellis will qualify for the VFL side since he hasn't played enough games during the season

SOS would have been concerned primarily that Brando could have bumped his son off the list.

As much as i agree with the sentiment that he was incredibly poor at times again the Lions, I dont think he will be dropped and agree with it. We dropped him last year before the Pies game & I really thought we missed his running, spacing and grunt work. The thing is with Ellis for all his flaws when he is 'off', when he is on at about even 70%, his flaws seem to disappear. His body work becomes a strength, his possession becomes reliable etc.

As that game was swining in the 2nd against the Lions, one of the big turning points was our boys started running & Ellis & Lambert led that. Ellis was in our top 5 for meters gained. He also spent more time on the ground than nearly everyone, at 92%. Pretty positive he would have been top 5 for distance covered as well. When our players run without expectation of reward - we win and dominate.

For all his flaws when he is on the ground we tend to play better as he runs and commits to the gameplan 100%. I am not sure what the stats is, but i cant imagine that ouw w/l ration with him in or out of the side to show any glaring proof that we are a worse side with him in.

Moving forward I think he will leave and get paid somewhere and we will get a good compo pick for him & I do believe we can replace him with a more potent version. But i think he will play every game until then

The question of how valuable is Brando can only be answered in context of what he’s being paid.

Top 10 earner at the club and he has options for a significant pay rise? Other club doesn’t need to give a draft pick, while we get a decent one?

I like him, but it doesn’t make sense for him to stay.

He grew up as a poor kid, he’s not turning down an extra million dollars at age 25-ish.
