best albums you own

Oh. A compilation. Humble apologies (I don't think of compilations when talking about Best Albums, it's kind of like cheating.)

Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced
The Beatles - Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
Ben Harper - Will to Live/Burn to Shine/any of his albums
KISS - Dressed to Kill
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
Queens of the Stone Age - Lullabies to Paralyze/Songs for the Deaf
System of a Down - Mezmerize
Thirsty Merc - Thirsty Merc
Aerosmith - Get a Grip
Jack Johnson - any of his albums
Jeff Buckley - Grace
Muse - Absolution
Faith No More - The Real Thing
Tenacious D - Tenacious D
Foo Fighters - In Your Honour/Colour and the Shape
RATM - Rage Against the Machine
RHCP - By The Way
BB King - Deuces Wild

The following are my pick of the crop albums:

BEE GEES= One. Released in 1989, this album is full of timeless masterpieces. Mixture of pop, funk and rock, it's my favourite album by the greatest band in history.
BEE GEES= Size isnt Everything. Great album released in 1993.
VAN HALEN= 5150.
DEF LEPPARD= Anything by this great band.
PSEUDO ECHO= Best of. Awesome 80's Aussie band. Pioneers of synth pop in Australia.
DARYL BRAITHWAITE= Six Moons (Best of)= Love this guys songs, particularly his 80's releases As the Days go by, One Summer, and All I do.

Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind

Brilliant album, absolutely love it. I must ask, what colour is the front cover of yours, mine is a greeny yellow, but every other copy I have seen is red. Has always confused me.

Shame that 3EB's next two offerings have been average at best.

For what it's worth...

Area 7 - Bitter and Twisted
Crazytown - The Gift of Game
Crowded House - Recurring Dream
Good Charlotte - Good Charlotte
John Farnham - One Voice (Greatest Hits)
Kid Rock - Kid Rock
Living End - Roll On
Rodney Rude - Take your pick, all brilliant.
Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind
Ugly Kid Joe - America's Least Wanted

You may have the Japanese limited edition. It was green from memory. I've got the red one like everyone else.

I think Blue and Out of the Vein are great albums aswell, don't you like them? Blue is more experimental and less "radio friendly" but I think that is definately on par with their first album.

Are you into Better than Ezra or Feeder? They're very similar to 3EB.

If complilations are banned, what about tribute or various?

I'm Your Fan. Len Cohen done by everyone who's any good

Blue and Out of the Vein both have some good moments, but I guess my expectations increased after the first album was one you could just listen to the whole way through.

As for Better than Ezra and Feeder, never heard of either of them to be honest. :-[

My favourite albums may vary from time to time, and I have only chosen from those I own. They are, in no particular order:

Live in Tokyo - Public Image Limited
Bedtime for Democracy - Dead Kennedys
The Low Road - Beasts of Bourbon
They were wrong, so we drowned - The Liars
London calling - The Clash
Dummy - Portishead
Half Mute - Tuxedo Moon
Automatic - Jesus and Mary Chain
Disintegration - The Cure

This is getting very spooky
7 of your 10 selections are in the cupboard at home
Dont have the Dirtbombs, Tuxedo Moon, Pub Image - Live in Tokyo.
Also I'm with Cassady on the Axemans Jazz call, but hey its your list
And a Bloody Good One.
For absolute perfectionneeds say Goatshead Soup or say Black and Blue (R Stones) for a bit of balance

hey mikey, i propose a short debate on goatshead soup. i always liked it but it never seems to get much of a mention or rated very highly.

my stones fave is exile, folowed by let it bleed. like sticky fingers and some girls too, but nothing since.

aftermath is very good too.

Black and Blue is also much maligned IMO, Different pace and sound.
Tattoo You - YUK and I really really really HATE Start me Up (oops wrong thread)

Goatshead, Dancing with Mr D, Angie, Star Star all excellent

Exile on Main St. Excellent
Sticky Fingers. Brilliant, wish I had an original album

i have some girls and sticky fingers on vinyl and they are the best covers ever, man.

i reckon i could get soup for maybe 10 bucks somewhere.

the first side of exile is amazing

Exile is great and made under trying circumstances, so the legend goes
Made in Keiths house in France
Stones had to leave the UK with Tax problems hence the title
No Brian Jones but plenty of weed, again, according to the legend

they were all on the needle and cocaine back then. there is a great book somewhere about the whole amazing shambles.

its by anita pallenberg? maybe.

mick wouldnt stay. he flew in by chopper.

apparently they had jack daniels on tap.

You both make a very good point - I think the Axeman's Jazz does take it by a nose over the Low Road. I don't know how I missed that one.

I have never really gotten into the Stones, so I don't know much about them. Which album should I buy to introduce me to them?

Are either of you watching the Martin Scorsese series on the ABC about the blues?

i used to play axemans jazz every saturday nite in the mid 80s at my shared student digs in brunswick. we would eat pizz and drink beers and sing 'psycho'

ah the good old days
