LOL at the Bummers putting Walls on their coaching subcommittee. I thought he had got out of footy for good.

Thought as Truck was giving his last interview and hoping to stay on after the tigers game he said “I’m an Essendon man now”.

That hasn’t aged well.

good to see him in the Punt Road parking lot

Interesting thing to play out is the pay out to Rutten .

He is effectively paid for next yr $500k, the way these contracts work is, that the payout is less, if the coach gets another job in the industry.

This was the big reason Clarko took a yr off in 2022,

To cut a long story short, Rutten may be happy to take unders, which helps alot in our tight coaches soft cap.

It makes sense business wise, and he knows everyone and is well respected.

This has legs

When Carlton were clearing the decks of assistant coaches after getting Mick Malthouse it was reported they paid out 10% of remaining contracts and dated then to take it further , assuming the industry would black list them

Reckon this has got to be the biggest *smile* rip off invented.

If a club sacks a senior coach mid term then the coaches reputation is severely damaged. Extremely rare that an unsuccessful n sacked senior coach gets a second opportunity and pretty much that coaches only option within the industry is to take a lesser position with much less pay. Club wants to sack the senior coach it should be paying out the contract in full, you can restrict them from taking another senior position while paying them out, if pre written into the contract. But they should be able to take up a lessor job after the sacking without their pay out being cut.

Dimma makes phone call to Truck "Hey Truck mate, want to have some fun"
Rutten "that will make a change. What do you have in mind"
Dimma " well come over to Punt Road for a beer. Park in the Tiger's car park and come in through the side entrance" "Then we will tip off the media that you are here and watch them swarm" "I will get the guys to run a pool on who gets the story out first and we can sit back, have a beer and a laugh"
Rutten "Sounds just what I need. let them know I will be there about 6"

I have heard/read on social media this "why would we want a failed coach back" statement a bit.

In the end it needs to be remembered that these "failed" senior coaches got the job in the first place by first being really good assistant coaches.

There is no reason why Truck can't be a great assistant again.
