Ben Lennon

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Playing him off half back flank sounds OK to me. Gets him into the game and gives him a sound defensive grounding. But I really don't care if they put him on a wing or the half forward line - I just want to see our talent on the park. Would rather see him in the squad than Newie, Morris or Grigg.

Of course, draft a bloke, then turn him into another defender!
Not all defenders are just defenders.
Just to quote a couple from a few years ago.
Duncan Kellaway was a good defender but not a great kick (and that's probably being kind!)
But when Leon Cameron was running out of defence he could actually pinpoint a bloke up forward. it was lovely to watch.
If Lennon can actually produce the same sort of elite kicking skills then I'd love to see him doing the same thing - at least for the next couple of years.
It wouldn't mean he was a defender for life.

Cameron could kick goals too when it was needed.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

I'm OK with the notion that Lennon learns the craft playing off half-back.
In time, he will be moved to different positions as his endurance and capacities improve.
He shows talent, has some genuinely good foot skills so, as with previous posters referencing Leon Cameron, I would be happy to see him providing a decent springboards to the forward line from half-back.
I reckon this young fella will ultimately be an excellent and highly regarded player.

With ya Bullarto. Off the few bits seen so far thinking we've got a fairly smooth n composed youngster in Lennon, if he comes somewhere near a Cameron or J Bowden standard for us then there'll be no reason for complaints, both very good footballers.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Lennon got any hard nut Tiger mongrel in him ?.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

How was that 55m goal into the wind!!

Foot skills are sublime.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Real polish. And I think over time will become a reasonable contested mark when allowed to run and float into a pack.

Only in year two but looked miles ahead of the Port kids. Has composure & footskills. We need more of this forward of centre.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Liked his game too. Perform well next week and I reckon along with Hunt both are locks for Round 1.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Shaun Higgins clone but better overhead.

First time I watched thinking this guy could be solid AFL standard. Good news.
