Ben Lennon

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Think we're going to enjoy watching the Beatle over coming seasons. Get the three or four completed seasons under the belt n around fifty games n watch him evolve, smooth n polished young player.

Leysy's held this comment in his back pocket for a while now (well since we overlooked Zak Jones on draft day for him).

Won't make it. Toooooo Slooooowwww across the ground & ball to foot for the role he'll need to play.

Hope to god leysy's wrong but expect this to be a slow death.
Bump

A nice bump that. Let's hope we can continue to bump that post every season for the next 12 years.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

I loved his first half, I thought he tired in the 2nd though.. made some mistakes

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

It might be 1-2 seasons away yet but my feeling is that this kid is going to be a very good footballer.

Certainly is Harry n that's why I'm enjoying the glimpses of good stuff from this kid, the consistent good stuff will come as he matures, or at least that's the theory.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Interesting to revisit some draft threads: Reading the game and running ability were listed as key strengths. Reading the game, tick, agility, tick, however have you VFL watchers out there seen any sign of this running/midfield capacity alluded to when drafted. I don't think I have seen too much up and back running/leading and gut busting efforts? Others may think differently. Don't get me wrong I think he is an outstanding talent but has to work a lot harder to get those fitness level up. Plenty of time for a player of his size, so I think we should be patient and hopefully he is too. I am sure he has the mental toughness to fight for his spot and become a regular member of the team he has been a fan of since the day he was born, (just maybe not 2015?).

Impressed me yesterday. Played in front and held position well. One-touch. He's in my R1 side.

Agree. I would like to see both Lennon and Lloyd playing in the forward 50 come Round 1. They both have footy smarts. They might only touch it 20 times between them but that could still result in 5-6 goals.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

Could do OK pooping up as a forward in the first few rounds against crappy opposition but I don't think he is ready against the big boys in that role.
Much prefer him off the back flank for now with cameos elsewhere but time is all this guy needs. He'll be fine but he is not a zippy footballer and is still a couple of preseasons away from getting the power through his body so be patient.

Re: Welcome to tiger land Ben Lennon

What was his position on Saturday? He seemed to be playing high half forward but the club had been trying to get him playing HBF. Abandoned that idea? Hopefully.

Fingers crossed he's out there R1.

I haven't seen that game yet, spook. But I noticed a little bit of very smart off the ball work the week before. I'd like to see him in too.
