Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Was among my best, very reliable player, runs the lines and excellent user of the pill. Seriously enjoyed his efforts to get a fist into a heap of overhead marking contests without chopping arms or crashing through backs n giving away frees.

Spot on TM with all that u said....

There has been a subtle shift in strategy over the last couple of weeks and we have seen the side play a lot of tempo football. If this keeps up, Houli will get leather-poisoning......and Rance won't.

Yeah, I've noticed it. And if I can notice it it's not so subtle.

It might be a way of trying to combat the oppositions tactic of crowding our foward line. Draw them out then rush it in and keep it in.

Could Houli play through the middle more is a great kick has a solid build very determined footballer?

Agree Inspector Gadget.

I think he would be a perfect fit for the wing. Harry O made the change this year and he's performed much better than last year IMO.

Even Morris take Jacksons role as tagger?

Looking into my cracked crystal ball, I can see us going after a lecras or Betts type as crumber and putting mcdonagh in as the back +1 next season or in 2015. Houli and Ellis as devastating wingers.

If dea can establish himself as a lock down small back we could then throw the kamikaze kid into midfield.

This would upgrade nahas, grigg and Jackson and significantly bolster the mids.

Oh god, I hope not Carter.

Just about had enough of us obsessed with playing just about all of our forwards in the backline in the name of 'development'.

Just say we had Betts and king as smalls up front.

Mcdonagh has footy smarts and crisp disposal.

But yeah, I'm with you on the forwards as backs fatigue.

Offensively he is fine as we all know and I agree he has improved his defense in contested situations but he still lacks composure in traffic.
The obvious one early was a howler but there was another one on the wing late he just panicked and threw a handball inside before the contact came and the Eagles took it down for another goal. Giving up 2 bad goals is hard to get back on the offensive side.
He still does it too often and it can be so costly because of the position he plays in. If he can just learn to take the hit in those situations and shuffle the ball out and try to get a breakeven then it would be great. No one expects him to win much contested ball or break tackles, that is not why he is in the team, but he has to get better at just taking the contact and not giving up the easy turnover. Even if he gets pinned for holding the ball that is OK because he can sit on the ball for a couple of seconds and allow his teammates to get back but when he just craps himself and throws a handball away then the opposition is away and skilled teams just go bang, bang, bang and it is an easy 6 points.

Typical 2013 game by Houli, couple of standout errors but otherwise very good.
One stand out error for me was the handball to Dusty on the wing in the 3rd quarter when Dusty was running into trouble. Dusty immediately handballed it straight into the air (hoping for a 1-2) but it resulted in a turnover. The commentators had a go at Dusty but IMO Bachar's option was terrible and Dusty had to take a gamble.

...but I agree, generally a very good game.

Does some good things but like Rance and a few others is another one I'm not sure I'd want us relying on too heavily when the whips are really cracking at the pointy end of the season.

It wasn't too bad that one. Yes there was a guy coming at Dusty from 5m in front but Dusty clapped his hand and demanded it and the man on the mark was blocking Houli's peripheral vision of the WC defender who then changed direction when he saw Dustin was going to get it. Dusty's effort at a 15m across his body left hand handball was a bit lazy and set up poor Matty Dea. All Dusty had to do was plant his foot turn around and handball back to Houli and he would have swung onto his left side and gone for a run. Shouldn't pin that one on Bachar.
