Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

In 1983 we had players walk after the success of 1980.
Now we have time to remember and appreciate there service and commitment to this great club.
Is there ever been a player more liked (Betts, Rioli and maybe Longegan) that is respected by all his peers and the footy community.
We need a go fund me.
So we can bulid a statue of this champion of the game

That speech is as good as Dave's. Maybe better. Clearly the club told him "no more", hard decision made but the right one. Starting with "signed a three year deal boys" was first class.

Two extraordinarily different men, backgrounds that couldn't be further apart in lifestyles but they both are Richmond men and why we did what we did.

Bachar's is a truly unique story, a great story for the country, it's bigger than Richmond. But he's a Tiger for life.

His goal in the 2017 Granny still makes me want to stand up and double fist pump. Well done Bach

Yeah, that will be my living memory of Bash. And I had the utmost confidence that he would kick it. That "ROAR" afterwards, one of the great Richmond moments of my life.

Tiger for life. Go well, As-salamu alaikum great man.

Thanks to Bachar Houli for an outstanding career. It's been a privilege to have him come to our club and not just be a great player, but to educate us as well and make us better people. He's taught us so much more than just football smarts off half back - I've personally been educated about faith, peace and understanding just by listening and watching. Thought he might go on for one more season as part of the Last Dance, but not to be. Forever grateful of what he achieved for us. There's great things ahead for Bachar in public life I suspect - he's a leader.

What a player he turned into.

Wow. The re structuring of the playing list is coming on strongly. Moving quickly. Sad to see the champs hanging 'em up but good and healthy for the club long term.

Spoke really well for someone who, as he said himself, thought he had more left.

May not have actually gone out on his own terms, but has done so in a display of great respect for all at the club.

A credit not only to himself but to the organization as a whole..... doesn't sound like the environment of an arrogant club!

Absolute champion..... What a total gentleman and terrific bloke. Hope the Tigers find a spot for him at the club.
Simply can not afford to have him get a job at another club.....

If that's right I think it's the correct call. Once you're over 30 and the calves and other leg muscles keep pinging it's tough to get back.

Agree on your sentiment as well.
Absolutely the correct call and out of all the blokes I HOPE retire this season, I figured Bach to be the one to do the right thing by himself and the Club, simply based on the type of honest, no fuss type f person he seems to be. back later to put my 2 cents worth in properly to send off this great Tiger.

Found this a few moments ago.

This was before the GF of 2020. We all know what happened that day with Houli injuring his calf but played on despite the injury as we already had lost Nick from the back line.

I concur with everyone’s thoughts on the man, the person , the culture he also helped with , the human being he is and his want and care for his community and building his foundation.

Richmond Man who did the Richmond thing and retired on his terms.

Runner up twice to the great man.

Thank you Essendon and thank you Hird.

Will miss saying to my son while watching him play live or on tv, there is one of my favourites, Houli Douli...

I’m still angry though the day the AFL came after him and went over the top of the tribunal.

THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES

Who have we got in the team now that can continue to drive the standards?

Dave and Houli will be missed more so from a culture point of view. Struggling to think of the junior guys who can take this up in the current team. Perhaps Jack Graham. Not sure Stacky , Bolton have the characters to drive this.

Retired, sad to see him go but he goes out a champion.

When you think of Houli how can you go past that goal in the first quarter of the 2017 GF? Put us in front and was simply magic.

Has done so much to bring his community together with all the other communities which make up our society. Just a great human being.

What a champion. Kept improving each year, and a key reason for our success.

Would love to see him stay involved in the club and be part of our ongoing culture.

Also a great reminder for us to give it to Essendon supporters for our lifetimes that a great human, culture/standards leader and a key performer in over 200 games and 3 flags was given to us for free.

Champion player. Glad to see him go out on his own terms, would have loved to see him get a much deserved farewell game.

Thanks for the memories Bachar, a true tiger legend both on and off the field.

Would love to see him retained at the club in some capacity.
