Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Couldn’t agree more. Tipping out all your stars in one go is dangerous.

love, connection, vulnerability, authenticity.

these aren't weasel words that can be thrown in the bin by consultants

and rebranded as ruthless; uncompromising; brutal.

A Richmond Man decides when it's over.
I had the strangest revelation last night ...... grab Bucks as an assistant :banana

Have been a critic of Basha's year but agree with all that has been said. A legend and the fabric that has turned the culture around at the club. Would be more than happy to give him another year to instill the culture into the new blokes coming in

His choice when he retires. He's earned that.

Same with all our champions. I couldn't handle Jack lining up for GWS even for a year.

Houli can captain the VFL next year.

He hasn't said he's retiring so don't really understand the "thanks and good luck in your retirement" messages.

Reminds of Tennis Australia's montage to Andy Murray's retirement 2 years ago when he had neither announced his retirement or shown any inkling to retire but just happened to be injured.

Might be a bit of "don't let the door hit you on the way out mate...." veiled sentiment going on.
He has been with us for 10 years and has been a wonderful player over that period, making a major contribution to each of our last three premierships.

While he has been a wonderful footballer it is impossible to speak of him without also recognising his contribution to the lives of many young Muslim people, and his efforts to help them adjust to Australian culture, to be confident in their own abilities and to take up the playing of sports.

That work has further underlined his views on the importance of traditional family values and of inter culture tolerance and understanding.

Not a betting man but I wouldn’t mind taking a bet that in the not to distant future Bachar Houli (then AC), will be named as Australian of the year.

His days at AFL level are however just about over.
No shame in that.
Love to see him stay on next year as a part time player with coaching at VFL level, or in the event that he decides to bring his playing days to an end,
as a Director of the Richmond football club.

I agree with everything you said. He was a gun mid before he worked his magic in the backlines and really pioneered a different way to rebound on defense.

If anyone really feels that way they can ggf too

At least the anti-Muslim sentiment that one or two showed towards him even in 2017 died and hasn't come back.

His injury is now listed as medium term, he could be back this year. Hope so.

He was one of the few trying to bust lines past the ball carrier.

If he heals and he is ready - and a bigger if we make the finals - he alongside Dusty is our best big game player. Should have had at least one Norm Smith.

I teach at a country high school and we have only one Muslim family. Their Year 9 boy is footy mad, not a Tigers supporter, but he absolutely idolises Bachar. He's been to his footy clinics and talks about him like they are best mates.

Unfortunately it’s a ruthless game.
We are at a juncture where some hard calls need to be made in the best interests of the club.
