Off-contract defender Adam Saad has “one foot out the door” at Essendon, according to Bombers great Tim Watson.
The Bombers have reportedly made Saad a four-year offer to stay at the club amid links to several Victorian rivals including Carlton, Melbourne, Richmond and North Melbourne.
But Watson is hearing that the 26-year-old could be on the way out of Essendon with the trade and free agency period on the horizon.
“I’m hearing that Adam Saad, who is probably close to my favourite Essendon player, has one foot out the door,” Watson told SEN Breakfast.
“I’m hearing he’s got one foot out the door.
“I hope I’m wrong because he is one of my favourite players.”
Saad finished third in Essendon’s best and fairest and has been weighing up his future since their 2020 campaign concluded.
The dashing defender averaged a career-high 18.9 disposals and 4.5 defensive rebounds in the shortened 17-game season.
The futures of Essendon pair Joe Daniher (restricted free agent) and Orazio Fantasia (contracted for 2021) are also up in the air.
