Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Dum article and another example of the bummers trying to rewrite history - what really, they couldn‘t trade with us because they couldn’t use the pick and therefore supported Houli onto the draft with their blessing. Thats not how it was reported at the time.

Tigers have traded players for draft picks they could never use and it didn’t stop us making sure a player got to where they wanted to be.

el dedoro is full of it, just full of it and another example of a stuff up under his watch.
Pretty certain we offered a pick in the mid 30s at the time for Bachar which Dudoro rejected and ultimately got nothing for him. Its a shame Daniher is a restricted FA this year, he deserves nothing for Daniher either

Gotta hand it to Benny, not only did help rebuild Richmond, but pushing Dan Richardson out the door might be one of his greatest masterstrokes ever!

We're startin to rack 'em up..... Adelaide, GWS, Essendon. ........ Next!
Dan Richardson didn't endear himself to we supporters by blaming us for the club's failings in 2016

It was mid-40's. They reckoned couldn't use the pick we offered, but it was fair for where Houli was at. Seemed to think Hird for Knights would be the magic tonic, before they reached for Dank's magic tonic.

They refused to deal and forced Houli into the PS draft so it's a bit rich that they're now making out that they did Houli a favour.

Interestingly we ended up with picks 6, 7, 9 & 11 out of that compromised draft (Conca, Caddy, Prestia & Lynch). Not a star-studded draft but it ran deeper than some others.

You're right, according to Wikipedia it was pick 56, Dudoro demanded a second rounder which on reflection wasn't a bad offer now but at the time questionable especially considering he was uncontracted

We made out like bandits in hindsight but Essendon hadn't been prepared to play him due to the shortcomings in his game. Not sure he saw himself as a defender when he left, but he played every week at Richmond and improved all the while.

Corey Ellis was a similar style of player with a similar lack of opportunity at Richmond. Was delisted recently after four games at the Suns. Luck or genius with Houli?

I seem to recall whispers Bachar being very unhappy with Essendon and it was an underlying factor for him wanting out ,

something about his brother being killed in a truck accident and the club showing very little compassion towards him

Desire.
Application.

Houli was always a country mile better than Ellis - Essendon just didn't know what they had.
