Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Steady, I consistently put him in the bottom 6 of our first 22. He played in our second 22 tonight and was probably still bottom 6. I take issue with the dreamy eyes who have him in our top 6.
If it wasn't for him leading our Best and Fairest and having morally won a Norm Smith, I'd agree with you.

A couple of short steps last night but on a positive he kicked three 30-40 mt passes to team mates instead of the 55 mt long bomb to a pack.

Far better for the team, keep the shorter passes going Bachar.

I just remembered two incidents where Stack ran past Bachar to to get back to defend, it was not a good look for Bachar.

He bounced the ball twice within 10m of leaving the goal square ?? (Neither of them were required) He is the AFL master at racking up meaningless stats.

Need to start Ramadan again, he was playing better when he was short of a feed ;D.

Been a Bachar fan for years, he's a bloody good second tier player, Bit hard when half the usual senior mids ( among many others ) are out n there's not the usual support and experience surrounding you. No surprise at all that a fair few of our players are struggling to produce their best every game under the extra load.

He is great offensively when he can get space but I’d nearly go as far as to say the softest player in the AFL.

It's weird, my knock on Bachar has always been the exact opposite.
I really don't think he's soft. He's also been extremely important in our very lean patch this year in throwing himself into contests and keeping the ball in front of him, and pushing it out of our backline.

Unfortunately, he's a poor user of the ball when he gets space. Almost always goes long to a contest, or an outnumber, and usually leads to repeat reentries for the opposition.

IF our best 22 is fit, we may look for an upgrade. I'd have Short in his role. At the moment, he's a must have in. You need to maintain a level of experience, match fitness, old man hardness and leadership in your onfield 22, and he's almost all of it at the moment.

Is soft as a marshmallow. Been a weak link for years

Weak link? Like in September 2017?
I like how Jamesy assessed the grand final, and who played well. Dusty was rewarded with a Norm Smith. Jack R led from the front and had he kicked goals in the first half mightve been considered bog. Shedda was creative. Rance was unbelievably dominant and unpasseable.
Bach stands in that company.
Within the conversation as best on ground in the grand final.
Intercepts, setting up attacking drives, zoning off and making numerous contests.

Smile me we had a number of players that all played well. Guess thats what you need to win matches.
Bachar Houli is a champion player.

If not soft, he has... thoughts before backing into a contest. It's not a natural thing and a parameter he has to work within. Like Ellis, not a fully rounded player and like Ellis, valued for what he does do well.

Every player on our list from Dusty down could be taken to task for a shortcoming in their game if that's what we're doing.

Ellis is not half the player Houli is but i understand your sentiment about strengths / weaknesses

Wow u cyber bullies really are hurtful. Please don’t take it out on me when your boyfriends tell u the back door is broken

99% of this thread is shameful.
I’ll just enjoy watching Bashar quietly.
BTW he’s a great player, great clubman and great human. Love and respected by all and sundry at the club.

Bachar has been and is huge part of our success...criticise him for weaknesses sure..but the filth being spewed here is disgusting. You people are disgusting, seriously disgusting.
