Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Brodders you might like to share with us as to who was his opponent on the night.

Yeh, he just pumped it long to an outnumber most of the night. But it was a poor night all round, at least he kept running.

My take too Jazz. I am normally harsh on Houli but thought he kept trying and running beyond most of his teammates.

He did. And also kept on keeping on after getting wacked early in the game. Our midfield and half-forward line was disfunctional as well, so kicking to a contest was pretty much the only option a lot of time. One of our better players on the night I reckon.

Bachar, our hardest working player who starts many of our attacks. Yet still the player that has the most scrutiny on him by the haters

Not sure if his the hardest working player on the list Baloo, but there wouldn’t be many in front of him, however it is a waste of time trying to discuss Houli with the Haters, even when he put to rest the argument that he didn’t deliver in the big games by pretty much winnnig the Norm Smith and having a crucial final series in a premiership year they still found faults, *smile* if Basher misses 1 target out of 20 they hang there hat on it, you’d think played for another club the amount of hate put towards him.

Very very good player and still a crucial cog to our success

Can walk off tonight knowing he put in everything. No bull-sh!t player.

First half was abysmal four times he wouldn't put his head over the ball not good enough for a senior player of the team.

Runs all game but he should have picked up the ball on most of those ones he kept soccering off the ground

Surprising how many negative sentiments there are for Bachar. With his run, carry, speed and spread from the back half, IMO he makes a big difference to our team when he plays well. We certainly miss him when he is not there.

Glen Downing you are right...Bachar can have his problems..but it is incredible how contemptuous of him some people are. Clearly he is and has been a very important player for us and was BOG along with Dusty in the 17 Grand final. We are very much in his debt over a long period.

Deep down, I'm sure every true Tiger loves Bachar for what he has given us and will never forget. Right now he is playing about as well as ever.

Its not contempt its realism. I am contemptuous of those on here that confuse disposals with contribution. Houli is clearly in our best 22 but in the bottom 6 in my view. In regards to the GF, Martin was clearly better than Houli on the day and the contributions of Edwards (leading score invovlements), Rance(10 intercepts and 14 one percenters), Riewoldt (second only to Edwards for SI, the big grabs, the goals and the leading tackler on the ground) and possibly Prestia were more valuable than Houli (DE% was lower than his Uncontested possession rate, 25 posessions but only four SI, our leading turnover player as usual and only one percenter. Next time you watch him play. Watch what happens after he is involved in a contest, if indeed he chooses to go to the contest and after he has a disposal. Do it with both your eyes open. He doesn't hurt the opposition and quite often hurts us, that's why we don't miss him when he is injured.
