a cohort is the collective. You could say a cohort of Bachar barrackers. Or maybe you and your Bachar barracking minions? 8-

I've been critical of Bachar at times, but this season, forget it. He's in.

Bloody spell checker, I meant *smile*.

;D Only kidding.

Thanks Snakey.

All those players are young and have covered Houli's absence more than admirably in fact the back line looks to be functioning just fine without Houli.

Disagree, they've been regularly rotated in and out of this position. I'm all for trying out other players when the opportunity arises but no-one else can play Houli's role as efficiently as he. Houli strengthens our team. And that's why he's coming straight back in without hesitation.

Houli is a quick fix.

Yep. That just about sums it up perfectly.

Nearly seven seasons n 140 games in Tiger colours, must be getting close to the longest quick fix in AFL history.

They don't have to be better players Just provide us with more benefit game day.

Geez, arguing with you law-talking guys is hard work but fair enough, I did ask if you thought they were "better" but in my defence you only said something about monkeys and "no" so I had to infer. In my original post I asked "Would the inclusion of Houli over Broad or CEllis make us better?" So really we are asking the same question, n'est pas?

My response on Houli was quite simple. You and your cohorts are quite free to engage in a mutual massage session over Houli. But it's a subjective opinion. There is no evidence to suggest we are worse with Houli out. In fact the evidence over the last two years suggest we are better. 40% win ratio when he plays. Over 60% when he doesn't.

OK taking all the usual ad hominem homoerotica out, you maintain that we are better off without him because "win:loss ratio". It's a big jump away from your statement that either Broad or Ellis provides "more benefit" than Houli. I'd be interested to know how you'd demonstrate that.

Our three best players in the second half on AFL ratings were Martin, Flossy and Broad. Our two best players in the last were Castagna and Broad.

Broad was actually tracking negative at half time as was Prestia. I'm glad the ratings backed up what I saw. Broad had a lot of very tricky one on ones which he had to halve or win and he did that wonderfully in the second half.

Both Broad and Corey had their best rating games of the year.

We kept GWS to 6 goals.

We win more often when Houli misses.

Pretty easy decision for me. Houli stays out and Broad should be rewarded for a good game even though the jury is still out on him.

If Corey misses, Miles should come in.

PS Broad ranked 15 out of the 44 players on Saturday

Fair enough. So we'll compare Houli's AFL score rating to CEllis/Broad's then, since that's the indicator you have cherry-picked :hihi

I'd say the AFL rating is the anti thesis of cherry picking as it looks at every action of a player over a two year period but hey it's your post (which cherry picked one reason out of three).

Point of order - I said you picked cherry-picked the indicator, not that the indicator cherry-picks. C'mon law-talking guy, you are better than that!

Another point of order - no, it's your post.

I think you'll find you cherry picked the indicator.

Re: Bachar "The Polariser" Houli

Said it before and I'll say it again.

Since Broad is playing reasonably well, play Houli on the wing.

So you got it wrong about Broad with this recent, previous post:

"About Broad, just don't like him. Too reactive, not strong enough over the ball. "

Maybe. He was horrible early on Sunday but pretty good second half.

I think the question Ant is trying to pose here might go a bit like this:

ahem...

"If Houli plays in place of Broad and all else is equal, who has a greater impact?" (How'd I do Ant?)

I'm no Houli fan and I hope Broad continues to develop but there is an argument at least that you'd have got more out of Houli across the whole game.

That said I think his time is almost up because work rate alone won't get you there. Houli 's tank is massive and his presence at the club seems a benefit so I hope he has a role as a mentor and helps to push his eventual replacement/s to earn their spot and is well managed through to retirement.

Re: Bachar "The Polariser" Houli

I thought the irrational hate for Houli was because of the beard, but the universal love for Flossy seems to counter that.

I think my lack of love (hate's a bit strong) is perfectly rational, though given my own current beardy state it would be irrational were it chin-coifurre based. Houli *smile*s up too often for me. He takes the wrong, though often the more theatrical, option when caught behind. He goes the lunge. Which rarely comes off and leaves him out of position and unable to aide his teammates for the next play. I hate the lunge. (I can hate things, don't like to hate people). Stevie Morris was a prodigious lunger. I have no cultural nor tricological (made that word up, heard something like it in a hair loss ad once. Thought it would add to the smartarseness of this post. That said you can probably get a PhD in it from The Ponds Institute) justification for my opposition to him.
