Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Sheparding? Who Richmond players?
Reckon I yelled out about ten times on Saturday for players to Shepard or block for a team mate..until the guy in front of me turned around and asked why I couldn't be more positive...good grief..what was thee to be positive a out...when houli got chased down no one was Sheparding or even yelling out a warning,,

Reads like a bunch of blokes playing selfish football so they get enough kicks for next week. Good article about the cancer of this very thing in the Age last week by the Mystery Footballer or whatever these turkeys call him.

No yap means players not really giving a jot.

Houli had a player 10mt to his left calling for the ball he tried to fake a handpass to draw the player in front to that player allowing him to keep running. It only allowed the player chasing time to mow him down. If Houli had taken the obvious option and handballed to the free player and run on to receive from that player, it may not have looked as fancy but we would have still retained possession of the ball.

Reckon Houli was expecting that player to run with him and was trying to draw his opponent to create some space for his teammate, but by the time he was run down the player was virtually stationary and not in a good position to receive anyway. I don't know who it was, perhaps it was one of the less experienced players.

Please someone provide any statistics in the last 2 years that he brings to our side. Ignore all uncontested possessions that do not result in scores.

Houli gets fed the highest percentage of uncontested footy in the league and does nothing with it. Goals assist and goals are just not afl standard for a creative back flanker that is fed 80% of his footy.

For all the critism of Grigg, Houli has escaped the appropriate objective critism.

His only strength is (supposedly) his kicking yet he kicks 3 behinds from easy set shots in the last few weeks yet he escapes attention. 4 behinds this year.

Houli is my first dropped.

LTRTR Houli was faking the hand pass to draw the player to his team mate so he could keep running. His team mate was in the clear and would have had time to give him the one- two if the player went to the team mate. Houli made the glory call instead of the team call.

Unfortunately his weakness in the tackle ( he either never gets arms free or coughs it up to the opposition) and his one-sidedness is finding him out. Has always gone to ground too easily and now his kicking has further let him down. Needs to be dropped to rediscover some form.

The drop in Houli's form is the same as the rest of the team.

I dont mind him getting run down at least he is having a go. Better than the players that can run and carry that stop still.

something is wrong with the club at the moment.

Agree 100%.

Basher has actually worked very hard on his defensive game and his aerial work is actually quite good for a small.

However overall he is not an A grade defender, still fumbles at inappropriate times and coughs up the ball too easily on occassions.

He is although an 'adequate' defender most of the time. However his role is to be the punisher and the finisher and he is just not that good at that and worse when the game gets really tight he gets tight and his 'adequate' game becomes less than adequate and a real liability.

A couple of kicks from kids Mcdonagh and Lennon coming out of defence on Saturday exposed how ordinary Basher is.

In an article on Vlad's site (not for much longer) they explored each club's draft steals. Bachar was ours.

This speaks to the continued inability of our scouts/recruitment team to unearth quality players with later picks/pre-season draft picks.

He wouldn't get a game at Essendon atm. His form has been diabolical this year and if we had depth I would send him to the ressies.

I have to say though that he is not a good backman and it's not his natural game and he has made no secret that he was drafted to play wing - mid and that's what he wants to do be more attacking.

Probably he should be satisfied with just playing and being paid to do so.

Houli is suffering from what the team is suffering. Noclueitis.

Last year was Bachar's best year by far and he was very solid. I don't think it's fair to single out individuals if the root of the issue is that their gameplan is useless.

Opposition clubs know he is our one and only runner out of the back line and have tightened up accordingly. Tough gig. Another structural issue that needs to be addressed.

The big difference between Houli and the likes of Vickery and Hampson is that Houli , IMO, just needs tweaking (no, not twerking) to his game.

Be a bit more careful with his disposal. If he kicks all of the fairly gettable goals, if he doesnt stuff up simple 20m passes....

What has actually occurred is that comp has changed to 1 on 1 contested footy and Houli hasn't coped. There were signs teams had worked him out last year.

almost the entire team hasn't coped... singling out Houli is too subjective.
