Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

I think Bachar has an important role to play for the club as a sweeper/link man/deliverer or whatever you want to call it, but the one indisputable, non-negotiable facet of crossing the white line as an AFL player is you go when it's your turn. Now these situations don't come up all that often, but when they do, you have to go.

Going when it's your turn means putting your team first, even though you risk getting hurt. It means setting a standard, showing the rest of the team that you went when it was your turn, setting the scene for your teammates to do the same when it's their turn. It's a selfless act, but one greeted by admiration and respect from teammates and fans alike.

When I saw Bachar peel away from Cloke on Fri night, I bowed my head in disappointment, as it becomes obvious that unless evey player goes when it's their turn, we will neither be feared, nor respected, let alone be able to mix it with the top sides who always go when it's their turn.

I'm not singling our Bachar, but that was a glaring example.

Very well spoken

.......and this is why we never land a prized recruit such as a Cloke
And there goes any credibility you might have had! :rofl

Cloke is proving this year that he is the most over-rated, over-paid complete spud of a footballer and we are INCREDIBLY lucky we didn't end up with him!

Still hits the contest hard does Cloke not like Chaplin and Houli
Ok where is a prized recruit we've landed?
Chaplin $450k Gosh that's why we can't get anyone paying a shot pile of membership money on list cloggers
Cloke in the team would straighten us up
Ps Cloke was an analogy we just need to get a big star that is not scared to hurt people because we are timid
I don't enjoy watching cotchin getting abused by a skunk I'm sure if Cloke was there mcfluffer would have been on his arse
Our big recruit was too busy sitting on his butt doing zip for the night and even though Cloke did FA all night Houli was still too scared to go near him
Laughable that you should question my integrity just because Houli is your favourite player

so is teamwork and busting a gut to run to support your teamate, but that gets lost and its hard to see the players hiding and bludging. next time when we have the ball look around the ground and see how many of our guys just stand there with hands on hips.

We pay top money for good ordinary footballers and this is why we never land a prized recruit such as a Cloke

That isn't and hasn't been part of the policy, to target that type of player. Besides, reading between the lines we don't have that sort of cap space anyhow. Maybe we've paid too much to hang onto our top players.

Houli's a solid B-grader, top 10 in the b&f in each season he's played. A great result for where the club was at in 2010. In time he'll be pushed down the pecking order as we acquire more quality, but right now I reckon he'd be one of the first picked each week.

How about you address the issue that our run and spread has been poor and that impacts on Houli's ability to dispose of the ball effectively.

Agreed Harry, there are many non-negotiables that we just aren't doing at the moment. Most can handle being beaten by a better team on the day, but not when the basics of football aren't being performed.

1) I never questioned your integrity.......I questioned your credibility. Your thesaurus must be broken.
2) Bachar is far from my favourite player. I do however believe that he is in our best 22 and is worth whatever we are paying (not huge $$$ from what I understand anyway).
3) Cloke was a terrible analogy to choose. He doesn't even average 2 goals a game and other than the occasional solid grab and big kick (usually out of bounds) he offers nothing.
4) Chaplin was worth every cent we paid last year when he was the general in our defense and was one of the main reasons we had such a good year. Sure, he's playing woefully this year.....but there's plenty in that boat with him.
5) I agree that we should chase some "stars" harder in the draft periods......Chapman would have been a much better example than Cloke IMO.

You're right buddy we just do the simple things wrong but we still have too many guys that have been picked up from other clubs that were picked up with deficiencies in their game and most of them squib it when it's their turn to attack a contest
Houli Griggs and chapman are the three most mentioned on all Richmond forums
Trot to a lesser degree

Can people enlighten me as to how this bloke is going ? All I see is a guy that is devoid of confidence and as a result he is a liability with ball in hand. I was extremely disappointed in him yesterday.

Good link man but loses 1 on 1s. Not saying he's hopeless or anything, he isn't, I like him generally, but part of our problem is we still have a few too many incomplete players, all sides have them, we have a couple too many.

Not great one-on-one, loses his feet, has poor ball security, can't impose himself on a tackle. This has always been his problem. That's fine when you provide drive from half back and deliver with precision. He did that last year but this year his drive and accuracy by foot hasn't been there. Would be happy for Lennon to replace him.

Was once an elite rebounding, long kicking half back flanker and criminally underrated by many. He's come right back down to earth this season.

Back to his essendon days.

He spends half of the game sitting on his ass.
It's his knew way of not going to the contest. The sooner we find a real HBF the better we will be.
