Andrew 'Mini' McQualter

Will face his biggest test to date and unfortunately it’s not the field.

No doubt the events of tonight would have rattled the playing group.

Interesting discussion On The Couch tonight. Garrrry saying how much better we look now that Dimma’s gone and Naifan countering with that’s because Dimma was coaching for the future and McQualter is only interested in the now. Buckley used the use of Trent and Dusty as an example of the different priorities of the two coaches.

Like I said, interesting discussion

Disagree with Buckley. Dimma was definitely coaching for the present. Not being in contention and having a possible rebuild on the horizon would have definitely factored into his decision to leave.

I agree. You can’t make that call with any confidence when Hopper is out.

I think mini has made some great tweaks. The team look to be playing more naturally as per our years on top.

Short kicks in transition through the square rather than handball. Mini has brought this in. A couple of other sides doing it.

Another big test with the forward line structure coming up. Mansell and Pickett are both out who have being playing big roles up forward. I am not sure we have anyone with their running ability in the seconds to apply the same level of pressure. Maybe MJ but he really battled last week.

Yep cupboard is bare. Mansell's goal on the weekend was quality. Nice curler on a 60 degree angle on the run and clearly growing in confidence. He obviously puts his body on the line too. Trezise/Miller seemed the most likely to me of the AFL players - Miller had an almost game in that he almost marked the ball four or five times for a shot at goal.

Miller is not the replacement for either.

Trezise does make sense but he has been playing off half back. Bauer the other one.

I suspect a shuffling of players within the current team.

Yep I worded it poorly. They looked the only likely ones to me sort of in form. For them to come in it’s means a lot of shuffling.

Lyon has emerging youth, has improved many of his players and his fingerprints were on some of the changes at Geelong last year. He can coach. Mini will look forward to the challenge. He will have one.

Well done Mini....again. Gave that old dill previous boss of yours a real lesson.

I suspect Mini would be good fun on the drink, reckon he might have a few tonight too, good on him, he deserves them.

Don’t know him, nor his footy nous. But to get us back in the game tonight after the early avalanche and the results so far in his tenure make him destined for a top job somewhere, if not Tiges. Good speaker, calm and his only downfalls are that he hasn’t coached elsewhere in 14 years and that he is the dreaded caretaker coach. Love that he has put players back in their positions

McQualter is proving to be a real breath of fresh air for the team.
Going well is the interim coach.

Move of the night was shifting Baker into the midfield into the last quarter. Added energy into a midfield that was looking tired.
