Alex Rance

I had written him off last year. I always loved his workrate and courage but I just couldn't see how his disposal and composure was ever going to be good enough coming out of the backline. Happy to admit they I was completely wrong and his rate of improvement has been phenomenal.

been a fan since i saw him in the U18 game where he beat kruezer. was most impressed by his run out of the back line. Cotchin and Rance out of the same draft. not bad.

he goes alright does the albatross. he's as tough as nails, yet runs like the wind and as brave as anyone playing the game. he can also play big or small and kicks em alright these days. he's durable too.

his rig is first rate and he's a good looking bastard

Hahahahahahaha! Great.

Going back 18 months, his game against Hawthorn in the Wizard cup, looked like he won't ever play for us again.
But this proves that we can develop and players should always be given a chance to prove themselves before we bury them.

14 goals in the last 4 games for Walker. Very good young talent.

No match for Rance though. :clap

Was Rance on him the whole day? Thought he had his worst game in a while, still prone to decision errors when denied space. Walker is a prodigious talent, if a bit lazy, great effort to keep him down.

The media have there favourites, Hawthorns Gibson, Norths Thompson etc
But this guy has surpass my expectations on him, What a gun recruiter Beck was.

I think we have all been scarred by the JON experience. Thankfully Rance ha cast out those demons.

he's beginning to monster key forwards, which is the next step in his development.

Not many full backs provide the level of run rance provides.

If you think back to the draft, many were debating the merits of Pears over Rance - both had stellar u/18 carnivals and both looked certain AFL players. Fast forward 4 years and I think it's pretty clear who has turned out to be the pick of the bunch. I watched the Essendon versus Port match and was most unimpressed by Pears and his negating ability against Schulz and Butcher, he is clearly a third tall where as Rance has the ability to match it with anyone, tall and short.
