Just to be clear, I think anyone who believes in any religion is being foolish, but I respect their right to do so.

What I don't respect is using your position to attempt to influence impressionable people into your religion.

I’ve seen people go out to help the homeless in various ways on a weekly basis. They provide a good service for free.

After a while, they tend to offer some of them a free bible.

I don’t know about Alex’s Academy, but in general I kind of assumed that’s kind of the deal? They model their values and let you know they’re willing to talk if you want to know more.

Whatever the case may be, I’m not sure if I’d worry about that if it transferred into a football environment. Better to offer religion than drugs, and there’s plenty who offer drugs I’m sure.

There is also the lingering disappointment/contradiction that he cut his career short to break his obsession with football and focus on his family. We all get it and don't wish to begrudge him.

However it's that feeling as a fan of being denied seeing such a superstar of your club break up with you.

And now he is dating with the bombers!

It's a bit like your ex-girlfriend is cheating on you, and you have no right to complain but can't help it.
Hmm interesting analogy but if she's your 'ex' then is it 'cheating on you' if she's now out with someone else? ;)
Perhaps the words 'dating someone else' might be what you meant? Either way your point about the disappointment we all felt when he retired is very true.

Wish him well, but I gotta say I’m pretty shattered one of our greatest ever players didn’t come back to us to help out. This, along with Grigg, who supposedly has a great football mind not being within our coaching ranks really irks me.

That's all good for some of their work, but there's also some dark hidden secrets been exposed about that cult that they don't want to talk about.

4corners a couple of weeks ago. You can probably still watch it on IView.

Watch the mid-year draft next year. He is 31. Easing back into clubland ?
It will be particularly interesting to watch, I agree. With Hooker gone; and Hurley struggling to recover from a debilitating injury. Pays to remember; he's younger than Tarrant.

I, for one, am quite disappointed with how the whole saga with Rance finished at RFC and always will be. This just adds to the mystery and my bad feeling about it all.

Did they knock back job offers from Richmond to take up the same roles?

I’d be absolutely shocked if he decided to put the boots on again at snr level. He’s been adamant he won’t. Rance has moved on from that chapter.

The recent appearance at the club B&F indicates there’s no bad blood there & the club fully supported him on social media with regards to the new opportunity.

I think some here are confusing the fact that he’s just comfortable in his own skin than pushing his faith. Richmond’s strength is the culture it’s built of acceptance, that all its people are different & should be proud of who they are. Not shy from it. In spite of that his alignment with JW was kept out of the public spot light for much of his career unlike someone like Bachars has been. In the US American sport stars are always mentioning their faith. Alex only did towards the end is my memory of it.

Sure he’s a bit different but so what.
The subtle digs about his Academy’s agenda are pretty ordinary IMO.

He’ll always be a Richmond champion & that’s all that matters to me.

I'm not suggesting they are overtly pushing religion on people but I know a couple of families who were concerned that their boys were nudged into the JW world.

It doesn't take much of an influence for a champion footballer to get people to follow them.

its pretty plausible IMO.

JW's think everyone is gonna get badly burnt then sucked into a muddy abyss by demons,

except them.

so they go pretty hard trying to get teammates

I think it was Dave Astburys speech on retirement put those rumours to bed.

Half thinking about Rance going to the Bombers since a Bombers mate ( yeah, I've got one ) sent a text yesterday trying to get my goat. All i could muster back was "Big Deal", and i meant it.
Rance is gone, he was a superman down back for us, but we won 2 flags without him.
The religion thing? Another inconsequential blah. A mate of mine used to come on to the JWs if they knocked on his door, they couldn't leave quick enough.

Why don't Essendon do what Port did with Goldsacks and have him on the list?
The best will be watching lynch Rip him a new one.
He always struggled against taller and marking forwards.

Rance's struggles with forwards (tall or not) are more a figment of your imagination than reality.
Stop making stuff up.!
Bloke was a dead set champion for us and a big factor in setting the path for our recent flag success.
