Alex Rance

Alex is a champion Tiger fullback, and a tiger immortal,

and I'll guess he'll be in the KB/Royce Hart/Francis Bourke mould as a coach.
Being a great player used to make clubs believe that person could also be the senior coach to take them to the promised land but I think most clubs are smarter now. He's going there in a specialised part-time role as a key position and development coach which he'd be very good at based on his work with Astbury, Grimes and Riewoldt during his time at the tigers, especially 2019. If he has ambitions to be a senior coach then he needs to get experience managing his own team and do the AFL coaching accreditation course which was not around when our former Tiger greats tried their hand at coaching. That's what clubs look for now.

I reckon my nana could have developed Dave, Dylan and Jack pretty successfully in 2019?

But I take your point, hes gonna be able to teach a 19 yo KPB a thing or two

The RFC has moved on, Alex has moved on, I've moved on.

Good luck to Alex if he wants go down the coaching path, but bad luck to Essendon.

Agree.

Don't know Alex at all - so only based on what I have read/heard when listening to his interviews/when others have talked about him but TBH, he strikes me as someone who likes to "dabble" in many areas and is still working out what he really wants to be in life post footy.

Fair enough too, we don't all have to know at 30 what we want to do in life!

His academy and teaching, modelling, travel, business with his dad at Little/Toll, education, religion, PT footy d/ment.
I am not so sure he will be an assistant long term. Can't quite visualise him as a head coach with the long term Drive to be the main man the way Sam Mitchell, Justin Longmuir, Clarko, Dimma, Scott the sook and Goodwin are.

Wish him well. Champion player. Wonderful personality - that skateboard entrance in the white suit to the AFLX game, ripper entrance.

From afar (and I wouldn't have a clue), sometimes he strikes me as a bit of a tortured soul.

I'm not worried we continue to lose our ex players to other club in coaching, they need to gain the experience somewhere. Once gained they come back to us stronger in knowledge and development. It's good they go, see how other clubs are running.
Broadly agree but Rance the exception. Would have been great from the start for us and will be great for them.

Personally, I wouldn't want him in any sort of coaching role at Richmond, but especially a development role.

His fixation on fairy tales is never far from the surface in his academy work and he is constantly trying to bring those young men into the fold.

Not the sort of influence you want.
Yep. He’s a very different dude.

Thank *smile* we don't have close minded, ignorant *smile* like you in charge of HR......just a *smile* thing to say, feel the same way about Bachar do you?

Just to be clear, I think anyone who believes in any religion is being foolish, but I respect their right to do so.

What I don't respect is using your position to attempt to influence impressionable people into your religion.
I am not a religious person either, and I absolutely respect the right to believe in what you want. I also wouldn't flippantly pass off someones beliefs as fairy tales, if you were in a conversation with Bachar, would you tell him what he passionately believes in, what he believes to be his life force, is nothing more than a fairy tale? I think you could have made your point without slurring his beliefs......just my opinion

My good mates son lived with us (they're from Wang) & went to The Academy in 2018 & 2019.

He never mentioned your concern at all, in fact he used to say they hardly saw Tross

Francis Bourke award six times speaks volumes to me. Will promote positivity and develop confidence in players. Excellent pick up by the Bombers.

Interesting observations, Big Richo

PS Have just read your your following posts, which clarifies things. Good on you for being upfront.
