The greatness of Alex Rance allowed him to get to more contest's than any other defender making this feat truly remarkable as he is well ahead of all in contest quantity and double plenty of the top 10.

If he does suit up for the Druggies it makes it fairly clear that some bad blood exists between him and Tigerland for whatever reason?
 
Apparently the game between the reserve druggies and Southport is on the Gold Coast, and it just so happens Rance is currently holidaying on the Gold Coast.

Each to there own my opinion was he was very average one versus one got took to the cleaners to often for my liking as a interceptor or 3rd man up he was fantastic.Grimes is alot better one v one defender.

It’s actually a disgrace that some of our so called supporters on here are now denigrating grading his reputation and standing in the game.
And some are coming on here saying Balta will be better.

Degrading no one is doing that so don't know we're your going I have alot of respect for him ?.Each to there own he was a great intercept defender or 3rd man up , but one versus one he wasn't great.

That's why there is stats,he was one of the best modern day one on one players,not up for opinion when he's at number 1 and had the most contests,what a few are saying is a wrong perception.

Tross used to towel him up every time

Last AFL game Round 1 2019. That was many moons ago, before pandemic. We won a flag, another flag, and now languishing mid table with maybe a finals campaign to come in 2021. Just heard the Dimma press conference, some mixed signals in there I picked up .. a. Out of the game 3 years, if any player can can back its him. b. Would prefer he be in our colors. c. Have not spoken to him for a long time.

He would need to come in via the draft or Pre Season draft, getting Essendon would not necessarily a straight forward process. Suspect by round 22 this all goes away. Where was this desire this time last year Alex :-(

If my options for a defender for the 2022 & 2023 seasons were Rance, Miller or Garthwaite.
I know who I'd be choosing.

He's obviously very close with Rutten. The only coach he mentioned when interviewed by Richo when he retired.

Very much doubt it. Rance is the best defender I’ve ever seen as a full package. Irreplaceable. Balta has shown plenty but miles to go to get to how good Rance was.

Rance has a provocative streak. Wouldn’t surprise me to see him at the Bombers in 2022.

What also wouldn’t surprise me is if he struggled big time.

Don’t do it, Alex. You were one of the very best.
