AFLW Brisbane v Richmond Qualifying Final 5 November 2022

Umpires having their say in this 2nd quarter. Thought we probably got the rub of the green in the 1st, but that 50 (technically was right, but if a player calls for the ball, then refuses to take it and then drops it, surely that shouldn't be what you are pinned for).

The free for their 3rd was maybe there (it was a very marginal free, seeing as what they let go, its a joke they just pluck that one out), but reckon the free before that should have been for us for HTB not for them for holding the man.

It was always going to be hard for us today, and the umpires seem to be making it harder for us.

That short, dark-haired umpire has NFI. That HTB was called by the non-controlling one three times the distance away.

They *smile* us in every single game
She dropped the ball the dickkhead paid holding.
What was the free kick in the pack for???

Yeah, they just drop the ball and get away with it time after time, does the Bartlett rule only apply to the men?

We're pretty competitive but their skills are better, they take the marks and their passes are more accurate. Hard to get opportunities unless we get better at this.

Our girls need to work on marking and handling the ball more. Too fumbly when not under pressure.

Brisbane are better because the know if they get the ball there's no chance of getting pinged.
Brennan and number 8 are soooo slow

Also too many handpasses and kicks either straight to a running player or behind them, we need to improve that a lot.

We often get exposed for height and it seems to be happening again, a number of marks by Brisbane where the Richmond opponent has no chance as they are a fair bit shorter.

I'd love us to try a few things this 2nd half. McKenzie on ball, maybe try Sheerin a bit higher up the field. She's been great coming out of defence, but I reckon she's so strong over the ball and can kick the ball long which will be important in trying to stretch their defence.

Players stop and the flog calls advantage that close to the goals. I'm switching off this rubbish....
Play on is usually called if the player who has been awarded mark or free kick has the ball and shows the intention play on, but in this case a different player had the ball....and closer to goal! Perhaps an inexperienced umpire but that is not an excuse for not knowing the rules.

Clear minds in the big game the difference here I think, only to be expected in your first final against a seasoned team.

Maybe, but I thin Ferg will challenge the midfield. For a contested bal team (we kept it contested in the 1st quarter and looked good), they smashed us around the ball that quarter and could then hurt us on the outside.

We were going to be a chance if we could keep it contested, but if they got it out wide it would be super hard for us. Need to get back to the contest and win the ball out of the middle which we didn't do that quarter.

Don't normally watch much women's footy but will always support a Tiger. Watched the last 12 minutes of 2nd half and Tigers maybe got within 80metres of goal once. How is that possible?
