Adem Yze

It's a back seven, with one on the bench, but yeah, we have an oversupply of candidates. Together with Yeezy's comments today and Balta training forward, that's why I hope and expect Noah will start forward. Young and Gibcus back (too much to ask of Godcus to come back and play forward), along with the old heads Grimes, Broad and Floss, and two of The Prince, Short and Bakes. That's the way I think we'll start, which means Brown and Trezise start in the VFL if all fit.

The tough call will come if Grimes struggles again and the youngsters are banging the door down.
Can't see Grimes being a walk up start this year.

Think he'll play very few games to be honest.

I thought Adem fronted up to the media pretty well. Said some positive things how he wants to set the team up and implement a new game plan (at long last) and bullish about our kids. New thoughts, ambition and positivity all sounds good too me

Good luck to Dimma up on the Gold Coast, but judging by his first presser, he will need a lot of skin protection, yikes he looked pasty faced.

I reckon Dustin is staying at the RFC hes invested well and truly certainly from early vision this year.

Interesting that Dustins best run of form post 2020 came after Hardwick had gone.

I cant see the greatest footballer in the history of the RFC playing out a couple of pointless seasons at the GC..... But thats just me.
Will sign for another year shortly. Carr is talking to Gale

I’m not buying into Yze until he says he’s “looking forward to the challenge.”
I'm not buying into Yze on the back of 1 press conference.
I need to see endeavour and transformation in the way we play.
I want a McCrae buy in by the entire group before I start patting him on the back.
Results will come if the group is united.

I loved his quote and I’m paraphrasing here; that if the young players hadn’t learnt something yet, they hadn’t taught it properly.

We need to be realistic about expectations so I hope he is given leeway in 2024 by the supporters. Change happens incrementally. When you change a game plan it takes time, not just for the players to get used to it but also to find the right players to implement it. If we are to get better I reckon the 2nd half of the season will be better than the 1st half.

IMHO 2024 is going to be a very even season. There will be a smaller gap in quality between the top teams and the bottom teams than we have ever seen before. The health of the list, the development of young players and a slice of luck could be the difference between 4th and 14th for a number of teams, including us.

I am also bullish about improvement in our ball movement. I think Yze and Newy are great additions in this space.

As expected yet more negative comments from so called experts. let's prove them wrong.

RICHMOND

IN: Jacob Koschitzke (Hawthorn), Oliver Hayes-Brown (Cat B rookie), Sam Naismith (delisted free agent, formerly Sydney) Liam Fawcett, Kane McAuliffe (draft)

OUT: Bigoa Nyuon (North Melbourne), Ivan Soldo (Port Adelaide), Trent Cotchin, Jack Riewoldt, Robbie Tarrant, Jason Castagna (retired), Kaelan Bradtke (delisted).

It’s hard to see much automatic improvement in Richmond’s list based on the players brought into the club. Koschitzke struggled for much of 2023 at Hawthorn, Naismith has been in fine form in the VFL but hasn’t played AFL since 2020 and the others will likely take time. Riewoldt will be missed, Cotchin was probably done and the Tigers got nothing out of Tarrant, Nyuon or Castagna this year. While Soldo was probably surplus to requirements, he was still a useful back-up ruck. A bunch of second and third year Tigers will need to step up for Adem Yze to make finals in year one. The Tigers have opened the doors to East Perth’s Mitch Schofield and Richmond VFL’s Mykelti Lefau to claim the open spot on the list.

VERDICT: List has gone backwards for 2024
