I can't understand why so many dropped out puzzling that in its way. You even got the 2 outsiders on the coaching panel with no footy experience wouldn't you rather a Selwood or Hodge.
I just don't like Coaches that haven't tasted success.
Besides Clarkson Beveridge & Roos all the rest are premiership winners as a player.
Hardwick Longmuire Scott Goodwin Simpson

For me that was his first mistake own it take authority he was with Dimma from the start of year he could see the issues asking the players for me was naive.
or it could have been a decent psychological ploy. If you want people to really commit then give them input into the decision making.
If the players said they wanted to continue with the game plan, then they own that choice and have to work hard to make it happen.

Having said that I think its been presented as a simple question and inferred that the players had full choice.
I doubt that. The coaches/MC/club would have had very strong input into the decision process.
Its like asking your kids what to have for breakfast. Its not going to be pancakes every day! So the question isnt simple and open-ended and one-way.
I'm sure there were complex discussions involving players and coaches about game plans etc.

there's enough football knowledge on the coaching selection panel.
What I like is the outsiders whose life experience and expertise can help judge different skillsets.
We know that the head coach is a topline manager, its not just footysmarts.
Is there a better club with longterm success than Melbourne Storm? Ponissi would have some interesting viewpoints on running a successful club (especially one that is often at odds with the league administrators)

Had a dream/ nightmare last night that Gavin Brown got the job , geez I hope we don’t get him as an assistant
Not a fan?
Besides which he must be getting on in age. It would be good to have a young energetic coaching panel.

Alot of premiership coaches I don't rate either Goodwin and Simpson bang average.

Considering every one dropped out the minute they announced they were searching for a coach. This has been drawn out to buggery.
2 of the most underwhelming coaches I've seen.
It's like the choice between Bolton or Neeld
Our next premiership coach is not in the final two. As so often is the case whoever gets it will be charged with doing the hard yards, transitioning players out and trying to build a young and competitive list. Normally this comes with inconsistency in performance and a few poor years at the end of which the coach is replaced.

It’s the next coach that is able to benefit from the hard work already done who makes the club truly competitive again.

I often think first time coaches are on a hiding to nothing in these situations. Unless you’re extremely lucky and take over a team who massively underperformed in the previous year or so (Collingwood & GWS)
