9 rounds in 6 Weeks - Player availability concern?

So who does that leave us with to get us to 17 games

- 2 west australian teams
- 1 adelaide
- dreamtime
- the salty whingers

that’s not a bad mix of games although 3 could be on the road, 4 if the Dreamtime is in NT - that makes it a harder draw.

Tough times ahead for all teams so it will be physical & mental test of character. Tigers last year endured a horrid run of injuries but prevailed due to tough mentality of all concerned at Punt Road. Besides COIVD -19 this year the loss of Dan Frawley & now Shane Tuck to Black Dog is now again testing the mental strength of all at Punt Road & its band of loyal supporters . We shall prevail as we shall not want to let them down.

Looks like a bit of a dream draw to me.

we play Metricon and Gabba very well/. The stats support my eyes.

GWS in Sydney - they aren't that good = win

Footscray on Metricon - Wim

Port in Adelaide = port aren't very good = win

Lions on Metricon , lions are good but we cop them on our home deck = win

Suns on Gabba = Win

we will be on top on 9, 2, 1 and unbackable flag favourites after round 12

I'll be at all 3 home games. I wanted to live in Richmond one day. never thought they'd come to me

any news on sheds baby boy?

Not sure about all the school nights Ezy but I will do my darnedest to get to all three. Funnily enough I said the same thing tonight about living back in Melbourne just for the footy. Love the Qld lifestyle and what it offers my family. But miss going to the footy religiously. Now I can have both!

Doggies at Marvel would worry me. But play them anywhere else and I think we have their measure.

Will be really interesting to see how clubs approach this 3 week block. I suspect we will rotate midfield / small forward roles quite heavily from game to game. Dusty is likely to get more forward time. Our depth is one of our key advantages and used strategically over the next few weeks could give us a huge edge running into the finals.

I reckon some of the 28+ yo may need some managing,

but I think the young blokes will be fine with 9 in 6

interested to hear what @The Big Richo reckons about short turn arounds and effects of age

maybe give Dusty a week off V The Suns on the Gabba?

risky, but we need him peaking for October

we should have Dion, Nank, Sheds, Bachar and Caddy come back fresh as Daisys for the final block into finals?

The intelligent and realistic opposition analysts will essentially be conceding 2020 to us.

sounds like we'll have a bye in the last block of games? somewhere between rd 13-17?

are The AFL planning the bye between 17 and finals?

I assume we'll be in WA for the run home, along with Drugcheats and Tex and The Boulevard of Broken Dreams?

suggesting we'll get the salty whingers on our home deck at Metricon?

what a *smile* dream run home - Freo, Ess, Crows, Cats

Pies have an easy block coming up after Sunday - Freo, Swans, Crows, Dees. makes this Sundays clash V WC intriguing.

could decide who gets to succumb to us in a GF I reckon

gives Pies Brisbane, port, north, blues (QLD) run home I think.

Our philosophy should be to play your best team. This having to rest players is folly.

Play game, then rest, then play again.

The team who can keep the same team on the park will benefit most.

I think it will be too Aces,

and our forced resting of a host of stars,

will ultimately deliver us from evil (im leaning towards Tigers V Pies GF)

I don't like the draw, but its not as nasty as i first thought. We play Port on a 4 day break, but they have 5 days. Playing in QLD is far better than anywhere else. 3 wins out of 4 is fine.

you could look at it 2 ways.
1. Going to Darwin means we avoid Perth.
2. Going to Darwin could be on the way to Perth.
Either way, it would be 100% wrong if the Perth teams get to play 11 games in a row in Perth. They will have to leave at some point. Hopefully its against us.

Great 15 minute interview with Dimma on SEN today on how they are going to tackle next block of games and updates on some players:

You will need to click on the Damien Hardwick segment and hit play.

Mentioned a couple of players he was wanting to get in at some point:

Dow
RCD : He said is "training the house down"
Stack: They are training him midfield

They have a plan for Cotch so sounds like he won't be playing all games.

Dimma hesitated when asked what are the chances of getting Bachar and Shedda back.

Anyway tune in and have a listen.

People are worried about injuries, but we're not on our own. We had 5 of our best 10 players out last week, but so did Norf. Collingwood have issues. GWS have issues. Geelong have issues. Footscray have issues. Essendon have issues. Port and Brisbane are better placed on the injury front, but they lack the depth.

That sums it up perfectly.

A few injuries to Brisbane and Port and they really fall off a cliff. Port are flying now but as we know Premierships aren't won in July and Port have a history of gung ho starts to the season only to drop away at the pointy end. Essendon are the same in that regard and were starting to build a run alas... they really don't have a premiership list. The only player I really like on that list is McGrath.

But I digress.

Compared to other clubs we are well placed with our depth and system. ATM I feel we are a mile away from our potential but that is why I'm chock full of confidence going forward.

Really disappointed with Stacky so far this season. I really thought he would have come back primed to build on last year sigh...I actually have ROss ahead for that HB role and I consider Ross and In and Under Mid which speaks volumes for Stacks year so far. There is still time though and I hope he is working his butt off to get back in.

Marlion has always been a big game player. The bigger they are, the better he performs. Let him build his touch through the H&A and watch him shine in the finals.

I've always liked Naish. Best kick on our list.

Look forward to seeing CJ but can't see how he gets a run. Only injuries will see it happen. Won't surprise me if he goes home or looks for more senior opportunity somewhere else next year.

RCD is thereabouts after finishing last year strong. I see him as a long term project. Will take more time to fill into his big frame so we just want to fit him out with all the tools now so when it happens it clicks in at the same time. Available now but IMO still a few years away from clicking.

DOW is the interesting one. Impressive backstage reviews but is he ready for the limelight yet? Never stopped us throwing a hundred games into Edwards as a skinny kid. Maybe a few cameos this year then let his body recover for a hard pre-season.

We have depth across the whole ground. We are in a good position for another tilt but this time for the greatest premiership of them all MUHUHARARAR!!!! >:)
