2024 Richmond Coach

Could be written by that guy off Bigfooty. “I think Yze is a 50/50 chance of getting the gig. Mcqualter also.”
You'd expect better from bigfooty "tried to cook the sausages 100 different ways and I couldn't find 1001"

History would tell us we are at a minimum 5 years + from our next premiership. Whoever our next coach is he’s probably not our next premiership coach.
It's a big reason I think they'll ultimately go with Yze checkers.
I just think it's an easier sell to go with a new coach rather than someone who's been there over an incredibly successful period & the expectations that come with the Hardwick connection.
There will be more patience shown by members with an outsider starting afresh than a Dimma disciple & I do agree it could be a rough ride.
Gale has said he wants to find the next Hardwick but post the tough Wallace years we showed Damien a lot of faith despite missing finals the first few years.
Adem is likely to be cut more slack methinks.

Lots of misguided assumptions in your post.
The club are being thorough.
Deal with it.
Misguided how?

After months of the process we bring in a couple from outside the process to give their input into the final two candidates. The whole idea of having a large and diverse panel in the first place was to choose the best candidate. There should be no need to add to the panel at the 11th hour.

If you absolutely have to bring in outsiders to help the panel out surely you don't invite a person who has openly backed one of the candidates on more than one occasion.

Does that sound reasonable and the way to run a fair process to you 17?? Or is that your idea of being thorough? If Chris Newman had made the final two do you think it would fair to bring Matthew Richardson in to help the panel decide who is the best candidate? It's like having a friend on the jury and may cast doubt on the process should Mini get the job, and that's unfair to both candidates.

I can understand why Cotchin was hiding behind his mobile phone when caught rushing into the building by the media.

For a professional organisation and a top operator like Benny this is not his finest hour. Even if everything is above board why you would needlessly open the door to scrutiny and any suggestion of impropriety? Might explain why Benny was so short and a bit lost for words when door stopped getting out of car.

Deal with that.

They included a relatively long discussion with Yze in the Seven news report.
He didn't come across as overly confident.
I think they might tend to be conservative in the decision.
Why *smile* with our system when we have created relatively successful coaches like McRae, Leppitsch and Kingsley?

Dimma had plenty of slack but he was starting from such a low base with the list he did well to get there as soon as he did.

You're making huge assumptions here.

You have no idea when these people were "added" to the panel, whether it was towards the start or towards the end.
Was it planned or unplanned?

No one except the people in the room have any idea of what's going on right now. The rumours about Yze getting it last week are obviously off the mark, otherwise he wouldn't have been there for 3 hrs today.

But, if you're lucky, I saw another bunch of shadows over ----------------> there

Feel free to jump at them.

Yes, there are some frustrated people amongst us Richmond supporters.

But, this pales into insignificance compared to the frustration amongst the morons who make up the AFL media possie. They are very frustrated because no-one is telling them anything. You can feel the frustration in the desperate speculation that they have been engaged in for months.

I love it.

The Media Morons can go f**ck themselves.

The Richmond Football Club can take all the time it needs.

I just hope we get a good coach and we'll see how it goes from there. Success is likely a few years away so I also want the club to give the new coach the time to transition from our era of success to the next era of contending for flags. Give them a 5 year contract and make a considered decision when the 5 years is up.

Seems like the panel is either split right down the middle or some members just can’t decide and Chimp and Buckley have been brought in to help get a majority or aid with the decisions of some.
Might be spot on Drof. Just heard Cornhole and Spitty Watson mention this. I reckon this is the reason why Chimp and Figgy were called in. This could still lead to a "Adem, thanks....you're presentation has been great....BUT...." result and Mini's in.

Collingwood?
GWS?
Collingwood and GWS win it in the centre, we never did as we relied on turnovers in our backline and rebound. Hardwick always had 7 in the back line and only 5 or 4 in the forwards.

Whilst Collingwood and GWS ball movement has similarities to our "chaos" football there are major differences due to their stronger winning midfields.

Plus we put pressure on the kicker from marks and free kicks - no one can do that now.......

Those new rules have marked our winning game plan as Out Of Date IMO.....

Again, misguided assumptions.
The club has brought in an additional two football people to add their perspective.
That could have been their intention all along.
I don't know and nor do you, but you assume its for the wrong reasons and are now having a mild panic attack.
Relax and await the outcome in the knowledge that the club has run a thorough professional process and we will shortly announce a well qualified new coach.

A successful game plan is easy. Have a good defence and when you have the ball move it as quick as possible to try and score as much as possible
