2024 Richmond Coach

Continuing conversation yesterday about how much scope McQualter had for change:

McQualter, 36, has the inside running, having built strong relationships with the current playing group, although there will be changes in this area come the season’s end, particularly as Trent Cotchin and Jack Riewoldt appear to be in their final seasons.

“He gets on well with the players, they understand him and we’re going to keep coaching the same way in a sense that ‘Dimma’ did so he doesn’t have to all of a sudden come up with a whole new plan, which would be hard at this time of the year,” Balme told SEN.

Great post. 'We're' suggests a group decision as you'd expect.

Loving the way the club has been an absolute vault when it comes to information around the coaching search. No one has any idea what is going on. It’s great!

I am saying I posted something politically incorrect that I retracted:
The Age had an article on someone who would love to coach again and I thought why not us ;)
Maybe if the AFLW needs a coach?

My concern is - has that plan gone past its use by date?

Once the new rules of Statue stand on the mark and 6x6x6 we went from powerhouse to ordinary - which suggests the plan didn't and still doesn't stand up!

Hard to come up with a new plan...???

Exactly pies and gws do it , but with skills and kicking efficiency something we are way behind in. The next coach needs to address this number one priority.

I think what they mean is, it would be hard to come up with the plan, implement it and continue to win games.

Can you imagine what it would do to a prospective senior coaches career, if they tried to implement a plan in a dozen games or so, the players struggle to adapt to something they have been doing for 5-6 years and the losses come? That prospective coach is very quickly going to be ignored in terms of applying for future roles. It'd be vastly unfair to do in that timeframe. You'd need to have someone like Ratten - who has no care about his future employment and is just there to bridge a gap in time - to suggest they start to change what's been embedded in the past.

The Battle for Premiership cups is over

The battle for middle table has just begun.

The 2nd age of darkness is upon us now.
