Why is everyone ( not Spook specifically) so convinced we are getting Cadman?

Haven’t heard any whispers besides PRE.
There's still a bit of premiership hangover lingering around PRE, the notion we're still a destination club is at odds with our wooden spoon finish. Cadman probably doesn't even want to become a Tiger, he probably realises Richmond won't make finals for quite some time and would prefer to play for a team still in the premiership window. 17 other clubs will also be competing for his signature, it would be arrogant to assume he's welded to Richmond.

Fast foward to end of season 2026

Richmond will have another 10 kids selected in the top 20 with a brighter out look going foward
Already payed up all our existing contracts with banked cap space and a soon to be 23 year old Cadman getting a 9 year deal for $10 mil at the club he supported as a kid coming back to victoria.

That's great in theory but there's 10-12 draft selections that need to be nailed over the next 3 years. If this draft is butchered like Clarke's similarly powerful hand then we're stuck on the treadmill for the forseeable future.

Just to clarify, do you mean 2021 when we had 8, 17, 28, 29 & 30?
Compared to 1, 6, 10, 11, 18, 20, 23 & 24?

Yep, destination club theory doesn’t wash anymore. The club is on the nose in the market. The mass exodus of this year did way more damage reputation wise off the ground then the impact it will have on the ground and that’s saying something.

We have not had such a strong draft hand in such a good draft in the past
Im confident we should get 3 200 game players this draft and another 2 next year atleast

Clark is no longer the man and our recruitment is better than 2004
combined with some free agents and cap trading coming in and $7 mil cap space available

Im confident by 2028 /9 we should be back in contention

Only way is UP

The huge positive is we have a recruiter who knows how to build a list from the ground up. I just hope we are not attempting to reinvent the wheel with a host of boom/bust selections, conservatism is the best way forward, particulalrly with this draft.

Sometimes the talent could influence the decision to be conservative
I think the clubs these days are extremely well prepared and informed but some do slide through the cracks like Hewett from the eagles
I recall you were a massive fan and the kid looked like a safe selection at the pick we traded out and the eagles jumped on him thinking all is good only to discover the kid had major injury concerns that were not investigated by the eagles.

With exposed injuries like Hotton & Lalor atleast clubs are aware to look further and ask for medical info
Trainor is the most concerning with the way the game is headed with concussion issue's , There is a point where you just have to take that chance but not for Richmond

Pick #18 / #20 Hotton you just cannot pass up and trainor perhaps late 20's but Lalor hamstring i would still take if he is considered the best talent at #1

Hewett still looks good from my perspective, I think he will still have a solid career.

It certainly destroyed Trengove's career but let's just wait and see, still only 20 so plenty of time to establish himself.
These Navicular issue's have a way of reoccurring and they are very very tricky
I remember reading on another forum a post by a person who worked in this area saying they are more difficult the ACL injuries
hope the kid gets over it but i just dont see him playing 200 games

He will end up at Richmond. No doubt. But I think when he becomes a free agent.

Blair plans years ahead. Just when we are ready to strike again.
