2024 - List Management

Any chance we could get some value at pick 1, pre-season draft?

Do they still have that draft?
Ummmmm. With 8 picks in the first 24 players why should we be expecting to rummage around in the leftovers? If the recruiters can't get things right from the best picks then they'd want sacking for even thinking about the bargain basement bin.
I might forgive them if they trade one of our later selections for early in next years draft, but otherwise not a chance in hell do we consider Rookies or PSD.

Yes it still happens. No chance we get value. (or at least very little.)
the PSD is just a final chance to draft someone who wasnt taken in the ND, before the rookie draft.
Any delisted players wanted will be signed as free agents, and no one walks to the PSD anymore.

For maturity and upgrades they don't all have to be top picks. An upgrade on Dow for instance it does not have to be a huge upgrade also get a similar age.
Upgrading maybe a slow way to improve your list but it is effective. It is also a good way to get a bit of maturity and ready to go bodies into the list.
Most of our drafted kids will likely struggle with the physicality side of things.

There are always diamonds in the rough late nd and rookie drafts its why im a bit dirty we have actually delisted so few and retained players who now offer so little.

- Rance played almost every game from year 3 onwards, but became a core elite in year 9 (2016)
Have to call out this absolute shocker of a call. Rance was absolutely elite from 2013 onwards. All Australian from 2014 onwards. To say he wasn’t core elite until 2016 is plain wrong

I must be misremembering, in that case 2013 must be the year I was thinking about. It was in the second half of the season a year before being recognised about a year later. If that was 2013, then it was in year 6.

I just remember he was the most dominant defender in the competition for about a year before the media began to realise how good he was.

We had to upgrade a minimum of 1 , I thought it would have been Seth but it doesnt really matter

Maybe Seth is on more $$$ & as a rookie not all of it counts

Now have 28 on main list (can have 36) & 6 on rookie list - maximum
So how many you reckon will take in the rookie draft ? Or how many rookie spots available

Cool cool, so however many less than 8 we take in the nat draft, we can use in the rookie (by promoting someone to main list).

Correct, rookie upgrades occur after the ND, so if we take less than 8, we can open a spot on the rookie list with another elevation.
