2024 Fixture

Good old Geelong and the AFL’s love and bias for them. They get the 4th easiest draw and only play 2 Sunday games per current scheduling. We play 5 Sunday games.

Guess Geelong must be a bigger draw card, bigger supporter base with more people watching them than us.

Ranking the opponents we play twice:

1) Carlton - good team but overachieved in 2023
2) Port Adelaide - Mediocre team
3) Gold Coast - Medicore
4) Saints - Making up numbers
5) Fremantle - Rebuilding bottom 4 team
6) Hawthorn - Rebuilding bottom 4 team
This is the bit that confuses me .......

We finished 13th in 2023 (eg bottom six)

I was always of the understanding that we therefore play the other five teams twice eg:

Freo, Gold Coast, Hawthorn, North and WCE

So why are we playing Carlton, Port and St Kilda twice!!!!!!??????

WTF!

Thats because your understanding is wrong. Excluding Gather Round (I don't know how they come up with the matchups for that *smile*), but its supposed to be as below.

Finish Top 6 - Play 2 other top 6 sides, 2 from 7-12 and 1 from the bottom 6
Finish 7-12 - Play 2 from 7-12 and I think its mixed then between some of the teams playing 2 of the top 6 and some playing 2 of the bottom 6
Finish bottom 6 - Play 2 from the bottom 6, 2 from the middle 6 and 1 top 6 side twice

We are rusted on....no matter what. The AFL knows this and plans their scheduling accordingly. Growth of the game and thereby revenue are the key drivers of what is obviously a very unequal fixture. Has been the case for a long time......

Now with 6 double ups, I think it is more like each team plays either 2 or 3 double ups from their group of 6, then either 1 or 2 double ups with the other 2 groups.

In our premiership years we played *smile* teams multiple times and had a pretty decent draw but that was fair.

Now when we finish 13th and don’t it’s unfair?

I've just taken a more deep dive into the fixtures, they really do try and *smile* us over don't they.

You are right with the above, it should be easy but we play none of the middle 6 twice. There are also only 5 teams to play 3 of last years top 6 twice, they are last years top 4 (Collingwood, Brisbane, Port and Melbourne) and............................................drum roll please...........................................Richmond!!! WTF. We finished in the bottom 6 but are drawn to play 3 of last years top 6 twice!! Not to mention 1 of those is a home game at the oppositions home ground!! How many other teams have to do that!!

Geelong finished 12th with 10 wins and a draw. We finished 13th with 10 wins and a draw. Geelong finished in the middle 6. We finished in the bottom 6.
How does geelong get an easier draw than us?

They use a secret formula for the FIXture now. It's all legit, so relax everyone

Because, as always, Geelong get gifted by the AFL over and over and over.

Oh well, this is what you get when you think you can challenge the AFL. The members are the ones that get punished. The club better start *smile* playing ball with those corrupt pricks, like every other club does
So how have we "challenged" them ... lately that is?
We are now entering the 2024 season, and our chief antagonist has left - Dimma, who is receiving a honeymoon reception at the Suns with the best fixture of all as rated by the media boffins.

it is done of post finals ladder, so Saints are middle 6, and GWS top 6.
