2024 Draft Thread

Might get a game in the 2's!
Well, if he gets named in the 2's as 23rd player... and we don't have enough fit players to bring into the seniors this weekend... and we get an exemption from the AFL (just like West Coast did) to promote players from the VFL to make up the minimum numbers in the seniors...

...then congratulations on your RFC senior debut, Jagga Smith!

You know it makes sense!

We need to somehow rationalise our picks down to 2 x Top 10 (Smillie/O'Sully and Jagga/Lalor/Gross) quality mids picks and another first rounder to get the best KPP available (Whitlock/O'Farrell/Shanahan) imo.

Then a second or third rounder go for someone speculative with lots of upside and X Factor.

If we can pull that off and go home with three almost sure bets and a couple of upsiders and have kept our first rounder next year we will have killed it.
Ideally we can get a combo of 2 mids that compliment each other, it'd be a waste of they are going to spend their careers fighting for the same spot/role. I don't know too much about the players etc but that's what i imagine we'll be looking for. Also hoping we don't touch any future picks, what we need to do will take more than 1 draft. ideally we can trade some later picks for a future pick in return, that'd be great on top of the above mentioned.

Who determines whom trains with each club.

its part of the AFL Academy program. I imagine its how everything else works; the better you are, the more say you get.

i.e. Jagga went 'tigers'

id say hes our to lose. or win.

I am a fan of Lalor…. So if we can get FOS with our first then double up with Sam… nice. Then best available key forward….The Twins, Faull etc bit early to tell …. And I like Flynn “Strawbs” Penry… Big Ruck Ranga later on…
Obviously need to smash the FS trades….

Regards,
Stan

From what I've seen and read,it's obviously down to Finn Sullivan, Smillie for pick 1 but if it's north with pick 1,maybe not.
The best of the best mids are the goal kicking mids so if Smilie keeps getting high disposals with goals, he would be hard to pass on,but it's also hard to pass on elite speed with agility and endurance.

Only subtle changes at the end of the list this week.

1st Rd: 2

2nd Rd: 20

2nd Rd: 28

3rd Rd: 38

3rd Rd: 39

3rd Rd: 46

4th Rd: 56

4th Rd: 68

4th Rd: 69

@spook reckon we’ve found our off Broadway boy.

He's one to watch for sure Scooper.

Had a good underage year last year, and looks to have come on. That was only his second Coates game, so one to look out for.

Very smooth mover and a natural hand to foot. Not sure on his burst from that clip though?

Definitely has AFL traits. 100%. Averaging 32 disposals this year. Left side dominant.

Seems clubs have him pegged as a running hbf. Looks to me he could play midfield though.

What’s the injury he got to his knee ? If he joined us he’d be guaranteed to miss 3 years of football the way we manage things.

He has played five Coates game this year, the highlights package was from a game on the 4th of May and that was his fourth game out of five played this year.

Couple of time he bursts away from stoppage and launches 60 metre bombs ot the square, I'll take that. That's Errol Gulden stuff. And Errol doesn't look fast but is football fast. If he keeps getting 30 touches and 11 clearances I'm fine.

I prefer him as an oballer or winger first and foremost. If you can win your own footy at a stoppage, play in the midfield. The raking left foot, the willingness to tackle and win your own footy. That's a profile I like.

Top 4 outstanding, 5-20 really good, 20-50 still a lot good players. Runs deep.

Oh, this guy?

Be interesting to see his testing. If he's under 3.0 for 20 he could go top-15.
Yeah that's why I tagged you. I like him from the first time I saw him live this year.
Gippy 3 - Xavier Lindsay - just ran all day, contest to contest, could get through traffic with a step but didn't blow me away athletically. A footballer, just knocked them up off back flanks, wing nad in the middle. Blue collar grunt but clean by foot came back inside with multiple kicks. Kicks on the left so always looks good. Lit of Dion Presita to him with the ball and movement-wise but doesn't have the inside game yet. One to watch.
