2024 Draft Thread

Top 4 outstanding, 5-20 really good, 20-50 still a lot good players. Runs deep.

Yeah that's why I tagged you. I like him from the first time I saw him live this year.
Interested to see who you have as top 4 in this early stage?

FOS, Ashcroft, Smillie and Jagga Smith in no order. May not end up that way but today it is.

There are another 10 pushing in no order Trainor, Lombard, Whitlock twins, Faull, Draper, Shanahan, O'Farrell, Ty Welsh, Xavier Lindsay, Marz.

It's a good batch.

Thanks Scoop.

Trainor is very much talked up. Wouldn't surprise me if North took him with pick 1.

So somehow keep a top 4 pick and get ourselves a couple of other top 15 picks. One for Baker and one trading lower picks up

Sounds like a plan

Whats everyone's thoughts on Sid Draper?

Talked up as going high, but little talk on him here.

Haven't seen much of him, but what have was pretty non-plussed. Think he's coming back form injury though.

Has the resume before this year that would've had in the top 5 but injury has kept him out of sight and out of mind.

If he has a good champs, he goes into the 5-10 bracket. Fills the needs we have, no doubt the club is looking at him closely.

O'Sullivan's better than Ashcroft. So's Jagga.
Big question then comes up. Is Ashcroft good enough to bid on in the first couple of picks to make sure Brisvegas pays full value for him, or does he drift a bit so Brisvegas get him cheap as?

It would be good to finish below North. I can just see the AFL giving them a compo pick for Zurhaar if he leaves so they get picks 1 and 2.

I can see it now, Essendrugs pick up Zurhaar and Norf get another first rounder in compensation. Norf have probably have a deal stitched up with AFL hq - we get a first round compo for Zurhaar and we won't request any compensation picks...

Saw an interview with an AFL foot dept 2IC, forget his name on gettable. Was asked about bidding changes. Reading between the lines, no changes until next year, some measures to even up priority access (my take: possibly making it harder for northern academies but more likely easier for other academies, eg he mentioned lowering the pick at which bids can be matched on Vic academies), reducing the discount in some form, (my take: either limiting it to 1 player, tapering it, or reducing from 10% across the board).

Mentioned that there had been 'a lot of talk' the the priority access benefit was enough, and the discount as OTT.

Sandi had a few players out but Sydney academy were very solid in defeating them. Perhaps we need to give them a little more attention as draft prospects especially tall defenders? Not a single academy player in the above mentioned 30, looking forward to seeing the Allies team and how it improves the top end choices of the draft.
