Think a few of us were predicting a trade with NM about 8 weeks ago on this thread, and that StKilda would be in the mix too for trading. I know spoof and I were talking about 2 from Norf and even 3 from WCE (before they turned turtle under Clarke) way out. At least 6 weeks ago I reckon.

These guys are laggards.

I wonder why all their options include #6 …………

I told my kids recently, my dad used to call the channel 10 switchboard when this guy was talking and say "get that boring, fat headed son of a *smile* off the air now" or "pompous ass hole". He never f bombed or c bombed.
Sometimes it worked, sometimes he'd have to call back.
Anything over a 5ish minute intro and the Old man was out of his seat and heading to the phone. Good times in my youth lol.

Imagine how he'd react to Andy Maher conducting an interview.😨

Builds up the value of north trading 2 and f1 for 6 and 11

This is the trade that makes most sense for both parties.

Then we trade back in with Saints.

I know some are anxious about losing some of those later teens picks, and I get it, but the best quality comes in the top 10. Remember those late teens picks will end up in the 20's, where our premiership teams we were picking up the Astbury's and Edwards of the world. They were important, but the drivers for our premierships were the top 10/13 = Cotch, Dusty, Prestia, Lynch, Riewoldt and Caddy. We don't win our premierships with them, regardless of how good Shedda was etc.

We need to draft those key roles above, thats why we need top 10 picks. That trade with North probably gives us 5 picks inside the top 8 over the next 2 drafts. Picked right, thats probably most of those top 10 picks that we are looking for to drive our growth, but we'll get at least 1 more in 2026 anyway.

I'd be happy to end up with 6 picks this year, 1, 2, 7, 20, 23 and 24. If we are planning on taking rookies, there are a number on our VFL list that would be good, or we good trade those last couple of picks back to gain extra picks if we want.

Who do you take at 7? I think pick 6 is much better placed to land Langford, Smith or Tauru. I agree with the rest however, we can still do damage with those later picks, that's the region for talls and there's a few this year.
