2024 Draft Thread

Sorry points are still used as clubs try and come up with even deals or deals where they think it's a win win situation. They are a measuring standard and until something replaces them clubs will use them as guides
Really?
Tell me how Points become involved in the Rioli trade for instance?

Post on another forum mentions Richmond in talks with Port / GWS / Richmond involving down grading #10 to #13 + #39
thoughts

.Fancy finishing 2nd last and only have 2 picks in a deep draft with the 2nd being in Dud Delist range.
Rawlings was put in a corner that he couldn't get out of with the Daniels trade.
They are the most desperate side who wants to get back into this years draft.(They're even putting a for sale sign of their f1.What does that tell you)
We should pounce on our terms.
2 & 62
Vs
11 & 18
Or
6 & 18 - f1>>Our way

How about #2 and f1 for #11 and #18 - they could possibly then pick 2 quality talls, better than 1 ………..maybe

I still see enormous value in our 2 picks we are giving up and we put pressure on the lolnorf to back themselves to rise up the ladder in 2025.

As l understand it we have 8 list spots and it looks like we want to take 8 players in this draft. If we drafted an injured player such as Hotton, could we put him on the long term injury list and then get an extra pick to use in the pre season draft?

This is the sweet spot.

The Kangas are the very definition of a distressed seller.

With #11 and #18, they could jag Tauru (unlikely), Armstrong (possible) or Trainor (very likely) alongside another highly-rated tall.

This is an excellent opportunity for us to do great business.

And North gets two decent cracks to fill its needs.

Yes but how many free extra picks have the AFL given Norf over the last 3/4 years - 12???

Sorry if you can't comprehend. People that can't comprehend normally think everything is crap to them so they apply Strawman tactics and make up or add irrelevant information to the debate. If it was irrelevant as you're saying then why do the AFL clubs use it? There are other criteria and factors list managers use also as you've stated, but they also use this where it may come into play.

Sorry for bringing up irrelevant information like how clubs rank players in the draft rather than the points value of their pick. How very "obtuse" of me to bring up something so irrelevant as a players ability. I'd better go sit in the corner for a timeout.

Firstly, 1 - you are using 2024 points value for the future pick, even though the points are worth significantly less - but you are using this as a guide for whats "fair" from a points value so you don't even know how to use the 2 indexes correctly.
Dude i was using the calculator as guide so don't stress over trivialities Strawman. I was quoting a poster if you'd been following the thread where he/she said we may need to give 6 and 10 for 2 which i disagreed on. It wasn't my ridiculous trade i was actually juicing it up on what he quoted. You seem to have a personal vendetta against me or suffer poorly in following discussions. Either way I'm glad I'm living rent free inside your Head. lol

Secondly - Everyone knows that the top picks in this draft are fairly even, so it comes down to pick preference (an intangible that you can't get from any points index). So as some of us have said before the "pick premium" if you want to use the index, will be much smaller than getting into the top 25 (which you called disgusting because again you only look at points instead of the intangible of the actual players available).
This is nonsense bc historically it's proven to be false so i don't believe you. People pretty well say this every year, yet a poster earlier put up how the early picks are rarely even. Again you missed that post.. Stick to the topic as the disgusting trade was a massive differential and the reality is we gave them equivalent to 20 and 24 for 20 in return. Stop the nonsense and stop dribbling rubbish everywhere . You need to follow the conversation and stick to what's being discussed. That trade has been done to death now and we lost out on it.

You need to cut the personal attacks out and debate amicably as this isn't a points scoring competition. :ROFLMAO:

No personal vendetta, I just like to call out idiocy when I see it.

So on the 2nd point, you are saying its idiocy to say that players in the top 6 are fairly even, and then theres a group of players that are even after that, and essentially saying that there aren't clear standouts way above the others that you pay massive premiums for, despite the fact that every single draft commentator (who is employed by the industry) says exactly the same thing. If you compare our Brisbane trade with others that got into that next group (top 6, then next 20-25) then you'd see the "premium" paid was lineal and wasn't out of expectation of what others were paying for upgrades, but ignore everything else if it makes you feel better.

Sorry, we'd better ignore all those things like player ratings, player abilities and just cede to the overlords of the points index.

Note, that pretty much everyone on this thread thinks you are wrong, maybe look in the mirror and realise when you've got something wrong.

Anything that leaves us with 1,2 and 6 and then possibly 10, 20, 23 and 24 whilst giving out 11 & 18, would be quite simply, incredible.

Bloody hell. That's Donut Guts, FOS, one of Smith/Langford/Draper/Reid/Smillie......and that's before getting stuck into the likes of Allan, the Hitchcocks, Lindsay Buckingham, Chuck Berry etc.

Unreal.

Yawn as you're speculating and generalising as usual even to the extent of your last sentence. Have you conducted a poll as I've only had the usual 7-8 posters whining. lol. History doesn't lie.

Well I'm done with you too. I generally have a consensus that everyone has the right to an opinion so I don't put anyone on ignore, but you should feel special, about to be the 1st on my ignore list. I have no need to hear anything you have to say as its always complete nonsense.

Whatever deal with North it must include their f1.Selling 2 games in WA means an xtra 2 losses even against the Eagles.
