2024 Draft Thread

Whilst I'm only a graduate of the Greg Miller YouTube Analysis Academy, I do like the look of Jagga Smith.

If his disposal is up to scratch and he can fill out his small frame sufficiently, he looks to be have all the attributes you want in a modern day midfielder.

Not sure if he's more Zac Butters, Nick Daicos or Tom Scully.

I find it almost impossible to judge players on some grainy 5 minute videos, I find the overall opinion of 100s more accurate ,and if I could get the opinions of their peers, even better.
From the short videos of smillie,Finn Sullivan, Smith, I would place them as
1 Smith
2 Sullivan
3 smillie,but a long way behind.

But u absolutely need to watch all their games to judge fairly.

The latest highlights of Smillie’s game v Bendigo probably show the good and the indifferent with him.

He’s probably gotten a bit quicker over the first 5m than I’d originally considered, which is good.

Probably depends how big the bloke chasing him is Redfords.

Lynch will be back for Hawks game or definitely after the Bye, I think we will win a few games and finish above Nth & WC and potentially St Kilda they are starting to look very ordinary,
If there is a clear 1 & 2, (i have no idea if there is), those picks won't be ours.

There's a clear 1, it's Finn O'Sullivan aka Vontae O'Cotchin. We'll be able to get him with pick 2 and if we *smile* it up heads should roll.

St Kilda the danger. West Coast still have home games against them, Hawthorn and Norf to come. Saints have a home game agsinst West Coast too.

I reckon we'll be up against it to beat Hawthorn in a couple of weeks, even if it is Dusty's 300th. And then we have our annual loss to Norf at the Dump later in the year.

Vontae is ours to lose. Let's not.

Reckon the top 3 is a lot closer now than people think.

Jagga, Josh and FOS.

If it is, it's only because Vontae's been injured.

He's still well clear in my book. And there are a few who could overtake Jagga and Guy Smillie before we're done.

That's fair, the exposed form had Smillie and The Bomb with FOS.

If others could catch them, then it's looking a very good first 7 or 8.

Whilst we may do that I reckon we will need to win 6 for the year to finish higher than 17th. Can't see us doing that.

For sure.

As we know, players will come out from the pack and elevate as the year goes on.

As it stands though, reckon there is a top 3 (order depends on personal preference) then a slight gap ILO.

Agree, the 3 Vic mids are that top tier.

50 touches and 13 clearacnes. For Jagga. Love how clean he is below his knees and the fact that he is always on his toes at stoppages, watch the way he bounces and reacts quicker than everyone else. Daicos like lateral movement. Will be curious to see his 20 metre time.

not sold on this bloke hope we are not looking at him

He is small, and not that quick, plays a bit like Josh Ward from the hawks, very much a low impact accumulator, pass

Smith is extremely quick and evasive Niko. Would leave Ward in his dust.

He's much more Nick Daicos than Ward. In every aspect.

50 possessions and 13 clearances in a losing team. Yikes.

Honestly just my thoughts on the YouTube video

I can see he is evasive , but not sure he is that quick , don’t think his kicking is elite either annd he is small .

I Might do some more research

Gippy 11 -Tom Hanily - Thought he was best on. Overager who just ran and ran all day. Would get involved in multiple actions in a chain but not in a "cheat way" ran hard to get to the next contest, not a kick and go get an easy one. Missed a lot of last year with injury but he looked like an AFL mid. The patterns he ran, the way he worked in stoppages and organized those around him. And his kicking was great.

.
Reckon the Swans got a good one, I’d forgot about him.
