2024 Delisted “free” agents

Most the good key forwards are taken high in the draft.
Some examples:
J Reiwoldt 13
N Reiwoldt 1
C Curnow 12
J Kennedy 4
H McKay 10
T Lynch 11

Yes there'll be some exceptions to the rule, but we have so many picks, we need to take one of the best available early on. Skills required, but they MUST love contact and be so competitive they'd start a fight if "their" leaf was the last to wash down a drain.

We'll get more mids at the top of the draft next year. Need 2-3 good ones this time around, but we don't need to get every mid sorted straight away. Our kpf will take longer to mature as well. We must sort this asap.

For key positon prospects it's below 10%, the best chance to grab a key forward late is the ruck/forwards like Larkey, if you are in the market for a 195cm forward a top 15 pick is usually required. That's why I would be making Whitlock & Simms the top priority once we sort out the midfield.
💯 agree Bully nice pack around the twenty range. I'm keen on Jonty Faull through his a pure forward big upside. Shanahan is in our range to.

I get people say take a KPF early in the draft, but the gap between Armstrong and Faull, Shanahan, Sim and Whitlock aren't much.

i'd be fine with either Faull or Shanahan, probably shifting to Faull as I see Bauer in the Shanahan role. Faull also has some form momentum, I like the steady progress he's shown, particularly in the Coates finals.

You can add Fogarty (12), Naughton (9), Max King (4), Ben King (6), Peter Wright (8) & Jye Amiss (8).

It’s interesting thing the tall early , yep a huge percentage of the very good come from the top off the draft , however there’s so many flops as well .

Absolute toughest call is on a young tall , so much can change when they go to the top level and fill out .

Though I’d love a young Jack Reiwoldt drafted this year , I think I’m still leaning towards best available, until atleast our 6th pick , if we draft a KPF before that we rate high so be it .

We don’t vary of our pre done draft order until late if at all

History shows that you don't always need a big performance in finals from KPF's.

Perhaps it's a different story getting there though.

I think I've always been loathe for us to draft talls too early since Vickery. Seems better to spend on them after they've been exposed at the level & you know they can play.

No there’s not , wasnt there a list 5 or more years of r1 talls , only 1 hasn’t gone on to be a good player. It’s wnere u can reliably invest in qty . Much more common to get qty mids rucks et al from deeper in draft than qty talls forwards especially

We nailed the dynasty rebuild by drafting Riewoldt and Rance within our first 3 first rounders.

Early picks, competitive as they come.

I'll add that because talls take longer, it's also important to draft one early in the context of a long-term list rebuild, since the core players should all peak together.

A young, top 4 list can more easily add a last minute midfielder than a last minute tall.

For a young core to peak together, we need evidence for slower developing players earlier than we need evidence for faster developing players. By the time we can confirm if a pick is a bust, we'll be further along in the plan, so we'll have less flexibility to rectify the issue with our draft hand. And even if we can draft an 18yo star replacement, the rest of the list will be ready to push for Grand Finals. So it's a pretty important piece to prioritise early, both in terms of picks and timing.

Its also why we dont need to draft a small forward or outside hff just yet.
They can be added at the end of the rebuild/start of the dynasty
