Plenty of decent DFA’s getting around due to clubs freeing up list spaces to get into this draft , is there any we should be looking at ?

We also have pick 1 in the PSD , that could be handy

Charlie Clark is one I wouldn’t mind finding more about .

Thoughts , suggestions

I reckon former Geelonger Mitch Hardie as a free matured body mid. I know on paper we’ve got Taranto, Hopper, Dion and Ross but we know Dion’s injury record and when he does play he’s not the same player he was. Hopper too has a terrible record with injury. I think the Sonsie and Dow trains have left the station too.

I know we’re going to draft 3 mids next month but obviously they’ll need support.

Or Frankston Tom Murphy (not sure if he’s a DFA despite being cut by North a few seasons ago?)

Just read that WC have cut Alex Witherden and Jai Culley. Don’t think they serve our needs though.

Not sure what the go with Witherden , however he’s an elite kick isn’t he ?

Culley seems to have fans and apparently was coming along well before an ACL

Just looked him up, would still be 26 for season ‘25. And played 40 games for WC over the last 2 seasons. I thought he was older and more injury prone.

I'd certainly prefer Hardie on the list over Dow. I still think there is a chance with Sonsie, time to put him the last chance saloon and see if it gets him to step up.

I like Clarke as a forward option too. Plenty of players have made it at their 2nd club, so if we have list spots then I think its worth a go.

FWIW - I reckon we delist all 3 of Cumberland, Dow and Coulthard and say we will consider them in the rookie draft. We may choose to relist them, but it gives us maximum flexibility at the ND to delist all 3 of them.

Re Clarke, sometimes I like the appeal of getting someone who has played 1 game more than say a Parfitt who’s played a lot more.

There’s many a precedent of the “1 game player who became a star at his next club”, off the top of my head there’s Tom Harley and ……ummm….

Cam Mooney I guess. Eleven games at North including a premiership without touching the ball, then nearly 200 games at the Scats.

Most other clubs have given a number of players their DCM cards so I have that horrible feeling that we are going to keep all or most of our dead wood for another season instead of emptying the cupboard of those who clearly are not up to AFL footy (according to PRE)

Still plenty of time before the 1st List Lodgement

I think Grainger-Barras would be worth a look. Right age for a rebuilding team and was highly rated in his draft year.

Clearly lost his way, but might develop with a fresh start as long as there are no off-field issues.

We have 8 picks coming up in draft and have we delisted anybody yet? I think all those names above are all passed their use by date and rather give State players a go if vacancies are there.

If we delist those 3 plus offer K-Mac a contract (say as a rookie).

Remind Leysy how many spots that will leave us Posh?

The writing was always on the wall for the young Tigers that never really took their opportunity in 2024. A few kids are going to have to make way now.
Cut throat business.
