Great start and Raso nearly drove through another one mins later only to be saved by the keeper.

I am far from a world game aficionado but I thought I had a reasonable grasp on the off side rule. Clearly not.
How was that goal by Fowler ruled off side? There were at least 2 players between her and the goal when she kicked it. Then apparently it was Carpenter who was off side but she also had a player between her and the goal. And Fowler didn’t pass her the ball so how is it relevant anyway? I guess there is a valid explanation; can someone please fill me in?

They said Carpenter was in the play and her foot was (marginally) behind the opposition player. Doubt that was the intention of the off side rule!
Sounds like *smile*. The VAR image they showed didn’t even have the player behind Carpenter in the image! Only a player next to her. Bizarre.
Brenton Speed said on twitter that offside call was garbage but should have been a foul against Carpenter anyway.
Good stuff. What a turnaround. Looks like the Maple Leafers were the easiest to beat in the end.
