2023 Women's World Cup

That shot was just too good.

Come on Tillies, time to crank it up a gear or three.

England’s first touches on average a lot better than ours. Their pace outside also troubling our defenders. But we have had some really nice touches as well to set up some attacks.

Fowler needs to get into the game. She's either being marked out of it or it's not working with Kerr there.

Her distribution is elite normally but it's been average at best tonight.

That last attack and nearly a header for Kerr.

Wonder if their tactics early put her off a fraction as she knows quite a few of the girls.

Come on girls.

Come on Kerr.

Is the Pommy anthem wordless coz they haven't updated Queen to King?
Should be Jerusalem. English crowds would then have a song to belt out with gusto, just as the French, Welsh, Scots and Irish do. Rather than the dull dirge they have.

Something I am envious of is those nation’s crowd’s ability for spine tingling massed singing.

Sure our National anthem doesn’t help. But, it seems to be a gene we lost on the boat trip over.

I think its largely because England play Walsh and Stanway relatively deep, so they are sucking the space away from her and she is having to go very deep to receive the ball and then she is too far from goal.

I think England have played well so far, we all knew the game would be played in this style and I think they have largely defended the counter attack well and that was always the risk.

I actually think getting Razo into the game with Greenwood on a yellow card has to be their plan. She's barely been given the ball to feet all game, but it should be what they target IMO. Greenwood is an excellent defender (probably been Englands best player through the tournament) but that yellow card may just worry her enough when it comes to tackle and it might allow Razo to get round the back of her.

The South American ones are amazing to hear sung.

It's our left side that's the strongest but they haven't been very threatening. Foord largely unsighted.

England are expecting the long balls and it's what we're giving them. Easy to defend when you know they'll come long and high.

Thats coming because of the high press, and starving players like Fowler of space so they are going backwards and then trying to force it with the longer ball. The Aussie girls need to play with a bit more patience as they have been giving the ball back fairly easily and England love to control possession and therefore the tempo of the game.

I still reckon Razo more so than Foord should be the focus of the Matildas play.

Absolutely. Argentina, Chile, Mexico I know sound fantastic. Italy can belt out theirs as well as any other nation I mentioned.

Russia also can sound magnificent (although it pains me to say that with current world events).

French National Anthem is still the best, at least until we change ours to Down Under.
