2023 Draft Thread.

Are all combine results available or just top 10? I think state results aren't out yet.

It just occurred to me, not only do the Suns look like having 4 top 30 players, and 3 of those a good chance of top 10, from 1 academy in 1 year, unheard of. But 3 of those, Walter, Read and Graham, are from the same club! The best fwd, best ruck and one of the best mids in the country, in the same Palm Beach-Currumbin team! Unprecedented, the odds against that would be insane.

Footy factory?

Richmond will have a meeting with 7 prospects who are ranged around our pick.

5 of the names have been revealed to me which include, Cooper Simpson , Logan Morris , George Stevens , Lance Collard and Archer Reid.

Two of the other names are currently not known to me

I reckon id take archer reid out of that lot.

I think will graham is in our sights too.

Those 2 and kosi would be a decent hall with a *smile* hand

That'd be a pretty good return from where we're at, Ezy. Would like to see Reid take more contested marks but if he did he wouldn't last to us anyway. Great agility.

Logan Morris has plenty to like with his above average marking ability

No mention of Green? He'd be in the frame for me, better tap ruckman than Barnett who went second round last year. But looking at those names I think we're on the right track, I'm confident we can walk away with one tall and one small forward from this draft, Collard moving up the ranks with his athletic data, very similar numbers to Dan Rioli which should be reason for optimism.

With GC now holding a late first I'd be looking at ways to get hold of that pick, a player like Reid likely to be in that range if we're focused on a tall. Green another who probably goes around that mark.

Yes, I'm a fan of Morris. Reid is 203cm v Morris 192, though. Morris more a third tall type but does have fantastic mitts.
Remember Oscar Allen who had the same for seen problem, many said he's only 192 cm so a 3rd tall,if they have sheer marking power, its not a problem.

Except Oscar Allen is 196cm
No guarantees Morris has any growth left, Caddy probably represents the best comparison to Allen, that's why he is being talked up as a top 10 pick. I'm keen to see Caddy's height & sprint time, this should shed a bit of light on his overall upside.

A while back I was lamenting that Archer May was going to be a loss to football because of his poor kicking. I thought it would be a good idea for some club to invest in him with extra football tuition. To my surprise I noted a significant improvement (last two finals) in his kicking and attitude. Thrilled to hear that he trimmed down (40kg) and was now under the wing of Dermot Brereton. Watch this space!!

We’ve spoken to Darcy Wilson several times as well. on the basis of any capability to move up and get him (next to none as far as I can see).

He’s an RFC favourite in this Draft and has been for a long time.

He's a classy unit, good pace too. But yeah, don't see how we trade up.

What draft range has he been projected to go?

Toorak Demons now have picks 6 and 11.

Have to think about it but on the surface of things, Swans seem to have landed Grundy at unders.
