2022 - March to the finals

With the dog’s winning we have to win every game and hope they lose one. Only got ourselves to blame.

You get what you deserve in sport, and we have stuffed this season up so badly it’s not funny.
There better be a good hard look at all elements of the football program as the 17-20 era is now most definitely over.

Wrong of me to say this with the little footy I watch outside of the Tiges , however whoever wins the flag this year will be labeled as one of the poorest Premiership sides imho , not sure if it’s just my shithouse attitude to the game now, however it just seems like theres just a bunch of good sides with nothing close to our Dynasty type side.

Not sure what direction we will head re list management at seasons end , however if I put on my Mr Grumpyside hat on , I say we *smile* this season up as a club , starting with our fitness staff ( who have been great for years) however there’s only so much luck involved in soft tissue injuries and honestly we’ve had way to many this year just to say it’s been bad luck. Some of our legends have had a huge say in our loses recently ( all players make mistakes) however uncharacteristic dropped marks from Grimes and missed goals from Jack could have had us pushing for top 4 ( yes they are forgiven ;) couple of credits in the bank) Again along the same lines I don’t think Dimma has had a great season , there is always some responsibility on the coach when it comes to close loses . Don’t think the management of Balta and Gibcus has been great . Im not one who makes claims on how the assistant coaches are going but again something is not quite right, maybe it’s just time needed to gel. In saying all that things could be so different with a little good “luck”.

This definitely won’t happen , however if we do lose a few of our legends ( imho Dusty is going) I’d certainly make the business decision of chatting to Clarko , again won’t happen 1 because Richmond don’t do that 2 Dimma & Clarko great mates .

Don’t get me wrong I’m still happy with Dimma , always will be, however looking at us from the outside if it is time to ad young talent to Bolton, Baker, Gibbo etc a totally fresh new look could be a great way to head forward.

IMHO with all that waffle I’ve just waffled , if we make the 8 and get most of the old stars on the park , we’ll bloody oath we could win the whole thing

This morning I’m very disappointed with what might have been. Having people going with the Richmondy label *smile* me to no end. It’s like after how good we have been they can’t wait to stick the knife in or have a laugh at our expense.
I don’t think we can win every game to make it. So maybe it worth giving a few of the younger boys a run.
Get Titch to 300 and then play Brown and Banks . It may even help us at the draft table if a few teams pass us.

I think we need to rename this thread 2022 march to the draft or 2022 the rebuild begins. We have thrown our chances away. It's undeniable. The Bulldogs are hot and will take our spot.

It is was it is and I am still proud and happy. However, what I find upsetting is the manner that we have fallen. Discipline, poor team selection and basic skill errors should not be the cause of our decline. Examples the 50 metre penalties, kicking into the man on the mark etc etc.

Finals are done. The Bulldogs are playing good footy now. They will hit the finals with momentum. Finals teams don't butcher games like we do.

This was probably the last shot at a flag for a few years. It's time to make calm decisions for our next crack.

Those last 2 losses cost our season as people said it wasn't decline of the group it was pure stupidity you name it arrogance , no composure , footy smarts , leadership fitness and medical and selections. I'll add to last 2 seasons Dimma has coached very poorly at times.

This all goes back to the list management decisions last October.
Lambert shouldve retired.
Not sure why they decided besides being bullied by the media to change captain.
And the selection of Grimes & Nakas would go down as an awful decision now. Both have had horrendous years.
The false information coming from the club during the summer 'we couldn't be happier with our preseason" '1st full preseason in a long time' etc. It was all bullshiit.
We started the season on half a tank.
We couldn't run out games, we looked like we were running in concrete.
The writing was on the wall from round 1.
The loss to stkilda was the start of the 'season of capitulation".
It brought back memories from 1987 when we leading at 3qtr time against WC, Collingwood & Sydney and we lost all those games.
The club had options.
Houli & Astbury retired. We couldve added another midfielder with 1 pick but they decided 5 picks under 30 wouldn't effect our chances.
Winning clearances/centre Clearances is properly the most important stat today.
I personally believe we have lost an opportunity to bag another flag on the back of our decision making regarding our list.
How bad is it now that Dow & Collier dawkins will most likely join the long list of dud 1st rounders.
For a club that has been soo successful it still has a underbelly of poor decision making.
You need to add every single year.

We have drafted some kids who have shown some good signs for the future. We have just missed jagging a couple like the Swans have with Warner and Rowbottom who could have become key parts of a push for a fourth flag.

That's where the Cats do so well. They find a couple of key cogs every year.

I still believe if we make the finals we can make a dent. Lets make some history, win the premiership from 8th :D

Same! Plenty of premiership signs right now.

I'm bullish about our chances this year, especially after seeing how impenetrable the defence was against a top 4 team this weekend.

A few coin toss finishes in a heavy training load mean nothing,

We look like the best team in the AFL a month out from finals.

We haven't been out played since early in the season (like in the premiership years).

We lost 3 close games in mid-2017 and it only steeled us come September.

Plus we've got Dusty and Lynch returning, Cotchin looking fiery, Tarrant approaching Rance-like form, and multiple kids breathing new life into the side (while looking dangerous).

A bit of fitness and luck and nothing will stop us in September. Who cares if we finish 8th? We can beat 5th en route to the next final. And we can beat whomever they put in front of us for week 2.

Geelong bent us over, they stooged us in trading away Pick 19 2 yrs ago and they picked up Holmes.
While our Recruiting team were rubbing there balls.
Don't they say in sport never help the opposition, especially a team that is your only real challenger..
Holmes looks better then the kid that left for Freo.

I have no doubt we can cause problems if we were to make it. The issue is actually making the finals at this point.

not easy games for the Dogs and Saints
we just need to win our games .... that's the equation ... win ..

The trouble is we have handed out fate to the doggies (and the saints if they win today) - it’s now out of our hands, we could smash every last game we play this season and still miss out - we have to both win every game and hope others lose.

Not happy - we have form to trouble any team come September but no longer confident we will be there.

Our first elimination final starts Sunday.

Out of the 8 now and not getting back in, the March to finals has finished.
