2022 Draft Thread

George Wardlaw is an inside-mid Beast. He gets his own balll; turns everyone inside out and delivers lace out by foot and hand. Best on ground in the Hogwarts Match of St Kevs v Xavier where he was on the losing ledger. Since U10 at St Peter's in the SMJFL this kid has been the Brownlow regular. Blue collar hard nut; love his work. If only the Tiggers could pick him up in the 2022 draft. He will be long gone by our pick. Second best junior I have ever seen: Bazlenka was pure class and silk; but Wardlaw is just grunt and willpower with footy smarts. He wills himself to get 2nd and 3rd efforts. Fingernails. They matter. His defensive efforts are as good,if not superior, to his grinding run and carry.

BTW shout out to Baseline/ footy. How good...

Jack O'Sullivan, Xavier College Border is looking smart. Great game at Hogwarts: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cef_BPtJbQn/
And backed it up big time in Vic Metro v Vic Country Trials last weekend with a lazy 28 compelling disposals.

Mentioned Wardlaw a few weeks ago. He’s exactly the type we need.

We won't get him,unless we get a top 5 pick .
For mids l would be looking at Cam Mackenzie from the dragons 188cm 80 kg ,he is really climbing up the order,he is looking more and more likely to be a top 10,,Jyhe Clark is another ,he is a quality inside/out mid ,and with a few talls likely to go early ,it might push him back a few spots.

Aaron Cadman a 194cm 86kg CHF is a player l hope we get,and then their's Brayden george who's injured at the moment ,he is quality player, with a great kick .
There seems to be plenty of depth in the draft ,but the champs will sort a few things out..

Cadman plus a couple of inside mids would be the perfect result for us and would balance out what we took last year very nicely.

Still think we need at least 2 kp's ,and this might be the year to get them.
A key power forward would be ideal but we would need to recruit a ready made inside mid or two if you’re going to prioritise talls in the draft

Phillipou over his past four SANFL under-18 games has found another level to his play, averaging 33 disposals, 8.25 inside 50s, 1.25 contested marks and 1.25 five goals. With a December 27 birthday, Phillipou only by a few days qualifies for this year's draft.

This from the ESPN, latest mock.

From all reports Phillipou stared on Saturday against the Allies.

Firming as a first rounder. I’m a fan.

Havnt seen the game, but anthony munkara has been hyped recently as a first rounder and hes touched the ball a couple of times in the last 2 games?

Phillipou burning up. I’ll have some time over the coming weeks to watch games.

Jeez ashcroft is untouchable - had 10 of VM 25 frees today (allies had 7)

Moral victory to allies IMO, who went down by 16.

I rate mackenzie over ashcroft after that.

I think ashcroft get stats for both of them

he got a free in every contest he was in. Some were there sure, but a bit ridiculous.

Yep he gets frees at will.

Also every 182 mid in a blue jumper gets commentated as ashcroft.

I reckon his 51 disposal record was set by 3 blokes. 4 if you count the ump.

Hes a first round player, but not no.1 imo.

The armchair ride wont translate completely to AFL.

I Like mackenzie out of that midfield and harry cheezels looks the real deal.

Saints will be licking their lips - somehow mackenzie is next gen academy and he may slip past 20 and they get him cheap

Nick watson only had 3 touches too, and one was a gryan miers/ginavan/brad close special

Nick madden 205 allies ruckman will play AFL. As will bottom age jed walters - hes 195 and seems shai bolton quick.

Allies coach revolutionary 3 minute mid rotations could unearth some AFLX diamonds
