2021 Draft Thread

Didn't realise who Darcy Wilmot's father was until today. Probably should have put 2n2 together earlier as he's from Montmorency, where his oldman Grant played and coached. Passed away in 2016 sadly.

Had me thinking of a sportsman's night I was at in 92 when things got seriously outta hand and Grant Wilmot, who was coaching Heidelberg at the time...... sat a few on their arse! He had a boxing background so knew how to throw em.

Funniest moment of the night was Sam Newman beating the hastiest of retreats to the door!
Strangest moment was Jeff Fenech coming off stage to jump in and help break it up!

As has been posted before, Clark seems to be selecting to fit an existing type. eg Balta for Rance, Dow for Shedda. To me Gibcus seems a taller Grimes.

So do we currently have a medium link forward? Since 2017 we havent. Even the Caddy and Townsend games we were playing them as deep marking forwards.
Just doesnt seem to be the player type that we select.
I would argue that Cumberland is the one. Although has not had the success of the others he is definitely that medium type forward.

Twomey got the first 11 picks correct and also had Sinn to Port and Wilmott to Bears and Brown to the Swans. He's obviously got good mail. Must be why we jumped on Brown at 17 coz he would have been gone by our next picks.

Competitiveness is a top 2 trait in that role.
How does Howes go?
6.08 2km which pushes him into the top bracket for endurance & 3.04 sprint which is better than average. Good combo to work with.

He's just a little more polished than KMac, I think he's a much greater marking threat & should have a bit more scoreboard influence.

Jon Ralph is one that is running with it. So it could be complete bunkum :mhihi

Ralph saying both Richmond and Hawthorn interested in trading with Freo.

The interesting thing is that Freo only has a 1 real pick in 2022 = 1st round pick then their next pick is not until the 4th round (Geelong pick).

Could see Freo entertaining a swap into next years 2nd round plus some.

We're still in the race, that's good to know. Kangas 2022 pick on the table. Let's get it done!

Interested to know where are you hearing this Ridley?

I expect the Hawks or Geesook to get the Freo pick if they trade it. We are more chance of getting the Norf pick
Of the players still available the only one I would be throwing the kitchen sink at is Johnson. That would require reaching an agreement with Fremantle.

Reports around that us and Hawks are very keen to deal with Freo to get the first pick tonight and nab Johnson. If true it's hard to see how we could outbid the Hawks given both their next picks are before ours.
We will throw in Martin

If the Hawks trade up for Johnson that might improve our chances of the Sonz at 28

How do we beat Hawthorn to the punch? If the Hawks walk away with Ward, Johnson & Sonsie I will be scratching my head a little.

Knowing Clarke and co they will get Freo's pick and select a kid not ranked in the top 40.
Only Kong was strong on HMS Cibrus.

Only if it involves pick 26, here lies the problem, particularly if the deal involves a future pick.
